Playable Golbez Edition

Hack of Final Fantasy II

Description:

This hack alters events of the game such that Golbez joins the party after Cecil and friends destroy the Giant of Babil. The story has been tweaked so that this development makes sense in context. Edge is demoted to a non-playable character in order to make room for Golbez.

Other changes include: a modified party lineup at various points throughout the game, many new equipment and tool items, the restoration of dummied commands and spells, overall refinement of the script, and more.

We are currently on Version 3.1, the eighth release of this hack. This release only addresses bugs from previous versions.

Thank you to everyone who tries the hack!

A good twist on a classic

Version 1.3

Wanted to play the old FF2 and figured I’d check what roms were out there. I was not disappointed with this one.

While not a ton of changes, this hack does a great job of incorporating Golbez into the story with a good set of dialog to match. New items are solid, and the two new bosses towards the end kicked my butt the first time around. Thought the inclusion of Edward was cheesy at first cause there were two of him, then my mind was blown in the Tower of Zot when I fully realized how he was worked in.

Pros: New items, slightly changed story and you’re still a spoony bard.

Cons: Wanted to summon a shadow dragon.

Edge no longer shows anyone the power of anger, my fav line of the game. But someone had to be cut, and unfortunately I’d have to agree, its him.

Overall: Awesome. Well done.
