Hack of Mega Man 2

Description:

For anyone who felt Mega Man 2 was too easy, this is the ROM hack for you! Every level (besides Dr. Wily’s Castle) has been reworked extensively to provide a far greater challenge than the original game. In addition, there are a couple graphics modifications, and a slightly different story. HOWEVER, Quickman’s stage is unfinished, and can only be beaten with passwords.

Honestly, I want to know what was going through Kenclops’ head when he made this hack. Sure, its unfinished but that doesn’t justify the horrendous design choices when he made this hack.

First of all, the levels. Making jumps neigh impossible in Bubble Man’s level, or making a seemingly impassible wall in Air Man’s level is not good level design. I do have to admit that the disappearing block puzzle in Heat Man’s level was really clever, though.

Probably the main kicker is the design of the boss chambers. Fighting Heat Man on ladders over instant death lava? No. Fighting Flash Man with death pits with blocks containing ice physics? NO. You just don’t do that and somehow pass it off as good game design.

I would not recommend this hack to anyone, as it is almost as bad as Mega Man X6 and Mega Man Battle Network 4 put together into one mess of a horrible game.
