Game Review (by Mejust):
This game is a strategy game with giant robots, and a giant robots fan’s wet dream. You take a load of mecha and characters from all sorts of mecha series, mish-mash their stories into one, and let them duke it out on the battlefield. You finish the chapter, earn some money, upgrade your mechs, rinse and repeat.
Super Robot Wars J is everything you could expect from a SRW game. Looooong, smooth attack animations, an assload of mecha and accompanying characters and a sinister plot of a sinister man to conquer or destroy the world.
It’s a pretty hard game at times in your first playthrough, because you get a big pile of mechs from the get-go and only so much money to upgrade them. And all the while enemy units are getting more and more powerful. It gets easier over the playthroughs after that, because you keep all upgrades from precurring ones.
This is the complete translation of Super Robot Wars J by the Romhacking Aerie.

Well, here’s one! The crux of the matter: “Does this file do what it says?” Yes, this does exactly what it says it does. This is one of the things that I’ve been waiting for, for a while. I remember as a child playing 3rd Super Robot Wars in English while listening to “The Winner” from and watching “Gundam 0083: Stardust Memories”. (Maybe not too long ago for you guys, but) Good Times… …Buuuuut that’s not what this is about, this is about how good the “tlansration” is. There are relatively few errors, I’m hard pressed to find more than a handful and I’m Impressed. The errors that DID make it through are relatively simple and don’t interfere with the plot at all, but you may find yourself hitting the B button to roll back the story because you didn’t quite understand the way the sentence was worded at first. (which is a nice feature, the rolling back, whatever it’s called. SOME acronym.) This aside, the translation is basically perfect from what little I know. The Menus are done nicely, the font is grate, like housethegrate, and in general I suggest this game because it is one of the more recent non-OG or non-Alpha SRW games, so it has that going for it as well. Wonderful intro screen to boot. If these guys were publicly paid worth a damn for this work, and then this game was subsequently released here [to western audiences] because companies finally said “Damn the Licensing! FULL SPEED AHEAD!!”: I would buy it.
Now I’m waiting for: SRW MaKi:LoE, EX, 4th, A, D and R.
- ERr!! Thanks for making this!!
