• What’s NEW in Tecmo Super Coach 2009-10?

Most importantly, what I’ve done to the game is give it specific defensive patterns in response to the offensive play chosen by the opposing player (Human or CPU).

Previously, TSB had very unspecific defensive logic, and any controller option selected by the defensive to confront the offense with was, more-or-less, randomly selected with no notation of what was being chosen and why. The goal of the original Tecmo Super Bowl was for the defensive player to pick the same play as the opposing team (the offense), which would send all of your defensive players blitzing towards the ball carrier. Ultimately, this feat would be your true only success in the game on the defensive side of the ball.

What I’ve done is recode the player AI and team defensive reactions, in addition to over a dozen game engine mechanics to compliment the coaching appeal of the game, and to provide–what I view as a simplified (some might say, chill) version of a real football coaching experience.

Both sides of the ball, offense and defense, are now picking specific plays that will enact specific patterns, making the game now become more about strategy in how to get the ball down the field, and less about random play calling.

Also previously found in Tecmo Super Bowl was a sloppy quarterback AI. As a coaching player, you often didn’t see the kind of results you should have in the QBs decision-making abilities. I’ve altered the QB position towards the instinctual football parallel of Stephen Hawking, by comparison.
