Clones or games similar to Super Mario 64 DS?
« on: October 19, 2021, 11:07:51 am »
Hello,

Do you know any clones or similar to Super Mario 64 DS on the console of the same name? (Except M & Ms Adventure) With the same kind of star recovery where of the genre and travel through worlds.

By SM64 DS, I'd assume that games similar to Mario 64 are what you're looking for as well? There are actually a ton! Here's a few that come immediately to my mind.

 - Banjo-Kazooie (N64) (and its sequel, Banjo-Tooie)
 - 40 Winks (PS1) (or N64 prototype)
 - Donkey Kong 64 (N64)
 - Super Mario Sunshine (SM64's sequel)
 - Yooka-Laylee (PS4) or (Switch) (basically a reboot of Banjo-Kazooie)
 - Spyro the Dragon 1, 2, and 3 (PS1)

While these are all fantasic games, I'd especially recommend checking out 40 Winks! That game deserves more love! :D

OP appears to be asking specifically about DS games, so while these are all great games you've listed, none of them suit the criteria.

To wit I can recall Rayman (though this is just a port of Rayman 2, so there are better ways to play it), Pac-Man World 3 (again, port with better options, but if you need to scratch this itch portably with the DS, go for it), and Death Jr. The DS didn't really capitalize on 3D platformers, so it's a rare genre on the console.

The Lego games certainly qualify, though there's really no reason to play them on the DS when there are much better ports elsewhere.

For some reason Asterix & Obelix XXL 2: Mission Wifix comes to mind.

Rayman ds is the same as SM64DS except that there is only one universe: the jungle: /
When in Pac Man World it's true the graphics in the DS version aren't great

edit:

the games of the same style as SM64DS mentioned above are:

-Rayman DS (2005)
-Pac Man World 3 (2006)
-M&Ms Adventure (2007) (The DS Version was only 2 music oO)
-Crash Landed (2009 / Cancelled)
-Death Jr

Do you know any other?
