Because somebody merged my thread into this one.  This is why I preferred to have my thread separate, because by merging it into this thread, it just ruined what I was going for.  The poll and the specific discussion on the multi-cart hacks.  By merging it into this thread, it just ruined the whole purpose of the thread that I made.

I would really have appreciated it if they just left my thread alone.  It's not like it was hurting anything.

We have to be fair and if everyone had their own thread for their hack ideas, we'd have a million "idea" threads which likely wouldn't get more than a couple posts each.

I understand that.

It's just that there were 2 factors with my thread:

A. I was confident in the replies that I would get.
B. It was target-specific (it had a poll that didn't fit into the Hack Ideas thread.  The Hack Ideas thread is targeted towards "hack ideas in general")

In other words, it had a poll, so it was its own standalone thread, which set it apart from the Hack Ideas thread.  The Hack Ideas didn't have a poll, it was simply a conglomerate of respones to different hack ideas.  My poll was about something specific.  And it was related ONLY to NES multi-carts.  So there was a certain individuality to it, that I felt the thread would have done fine on its own.

By merging it into this thread, by simply moving my post into this thread, which relied on my thread title to draw people into it, it killed the whole purpose of why I made that thread.

My post and poll might as well have been deleted.  Because by merging it, that is kind of what it did.

Had it been left alone, it may have turned into something.

I made the same poll/thread here at Board2 (the thread is right here: http://acmlm.kafuka.org/board/thread.php?id=8746), at it already has a total of 7 posts.  And we have a General Hack Ideas thread there as well.  And, that forum is always extremely inactive.  Seven posts, not bad for a dead forum.

I've seen useless threads made on this forum that get 0 replies.  Sometimes exceptions SHOULD be made.  There was nothing wrong with my standalone thread/poll.

I'm not making a further issue out of it.  I'm just making my point.

I'm not clear on what the point of these is, exactly.  In most situations where you can load up a ROM, it's easy enough just to have multiple ROMs, isn't it?  I guess you could stick them on a repro cart, but those are relatively costly and difficult to make.
I guess a Multi Cart ROM with Mega Man 1-3 could lead to something like the Mega Man Legacy Edition has done with the Challenge Mode where you quickly switch from one game to another without loading the next ROM.

What would the scope of a Super Mario All Stars Vol 2?
What games would that include?

My guess is that it would be a cheaper All-Stars if Nintendo did it, basically being a multicart as opposed to a port collection.  Here are some theories about it:

-Yoshi's Island would probably be the headliner, since later on World got added in... maybe Mario Kart instead?
-Donkey Kong (kinda like Classic Kong sitting in homebrew)
-Dr. Mario
-Tetris Attack (it would be Panel De Pon USA in Japan, like Super Mario 2)
-Wario's Woods
-Maybe some SNES versions of Game & Watch "modern" games.

Convenience for the sacrificial altar clone carts?

RetroRain was talking about a sequel to the fanmade NES port:
Super Mario All-Stars: Vol. 2

· Donkey Kong
· Dr. Mario
· Mario is Missing
· Mario's Time Machine
· Mario and Yoshi

Super Mario All-Stars: Vol. 2

· Rad Racer
· Marble Madness
· Excite Bike

Zelda Origins

· The Legend of Zelda
· Zelda II: The Adventure of Link

Mega Man: The Wily Wars

· Mega Man
· Mega Man 2
· Mega Man 3

Super Mario All-Stars: Vol. 2

· Donkey Kong
· Dr. Mario
· Mario is Missing
· Mario's Time Machine
· Mario and Yoshi

NES Racing Collection

· Rad Racer
· Marble Madness
· Excite Bike
· Days of Thunder
· Bill Elliott's NASCAR Challenge

The first three I would love to see done.  I'm seriously considering doing Zelda Origins.  I'd simply have to convert Zelda II to MMC5, and then I could do it.

Out of curiosity, which ones would you like to see?  Or, do you have your own compilation?  Post about it here! :)

I voted other, because I'd like to see Bubble Bobble, Bubble Bobble 2 and Rainbow Islands put together...  :D

So, remember when I talked about Star Wars Force Unleashed II for DS need a "No Touchie" patch? Here's why:
* Slash Forward and Slash Down can be bound to Y and X respectively (and, if there's a Slash Up, to A)
* B could do what Up does (jump) to make it less awkward to jump over gaps
* Meanwhile, Up and Down could be used to aim attacks like Saber Throw and Force Lightning to diagonal Up or Down
* Force Abilities could be switched with L (as is) and used with R.
* When there's no object with a crosshair for Force Abilities, it defaults to nearest enemy.
* Abilities that requires Force Pull to a specific direction could be handled by holding R and pressing the specific direction
* Perhaps add the ability to Lock-On with Select or switch targets for Force Abilities by pressing L while holding R

To be fair, the only Force Abilities that would be better letting its touch controls stay are Force Pull and Lightsaber Throw.

-Tetris Attack (it would be Panel De Pon USA in Japan, like Super Mario 2)

The official Japanese name is "Yoshi no Panepon".

I saw someone post about all these collections of games. They should embed the emulators in there as well. Just include an executable with emulator + roms. One less mouse-click to search for files.

Why somebody don't re-write 9999 in 1 menu with unhained memory song so that can be used with normal header not only with FCEU. Can we reuse this menu once more with custom text? I find this very nostalgic.

Btw if someone don't like this thread and call it trainwreck why bother to write here. Simple ignore it and honor those who have need to write. Thank you.

Thank you for being registered with us for approximately 9 years. Enjoy being banned.

All kidding aside, I'm surprised that to my knowledge, nobody hacked Mega Man 5 and Mega Man 6 to have this yet:

Just in case, no, I did not hack the games like this, these are just mockups to demonstrate my point. Someone made a similar assumption when I posted a mockup of DK Jr. NES with the arcade version's transitions.

Has anyone hacked MM2-6 to play as Protoman? Protoman + some other mm dude were playable characters in MM8/9 probably wouldn't be too hard to switch their sprites.

some other mm dude

Bass. And it wouldn't be that hard to edit the sprites/palettes, but you'd still have to write the code for his shield and charge buster (in the games that don't have one).

Once DSVania editor is able to tear Aria of Soul apart, idea: Persona-themed hack, where instead of Souls we gain the Skills.
