Help getting an old SMB1 hack to work
« on: November 13, 2020, 03:55:08 am »
Am trying to get this hack to run: https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/3708/

When I patch it, the game freezes after pressing start. IIRC, the original rom it was made from was a version of smb1 that had no title at the topic. But I might be mistaken.

Anyone had better luck with it?

I just tried patching it and there was no freezing (Tested with Mesen). And I patched it to the good dump with the title logo.
My 3 latest Portuguese translations:
Sonic the Hedgehog (GEN) - My first Genesis translation!
F-1 Race (NES)
Sqoon (NES)

Much appreciated. I'm using Lunar IPS, and have tried patching the ROM listed on its page (confirmed CRC32) and the closest equivalent in the set that I already had (GoodNES …W (!)…). Am testing on Mesen but recall having the same results on FCEUX before. As soon as gameplay starts, the sprites disappear and the game freezes.

Is there anything different in my process from yours, so I can see where my problem is?

Thanks, as Googie pointed out via PM, it seems to be a problem with the coin sprite used for the sprite 0 scrolling. An easy fix.
