Help with Rudra no Hihou text visuals

I really want to play this game, but the text ends up wonky regardless of the emulator. Certain pixels, especially on capital letters are either shifted one pixel off-place and/or are scrunched into the next letter over. W, for example looks very much like a block of three lines. I'm playing via RetroArch on Vita and intend on keeping it that way. Anyone have any idea why this happens?

Emulator needs to support hires mode like in snes9x et Al on pc

I own 0 Vitas, never had money for one or a pstv when they were bumming around in Walmarts and whatnot
will hackrom for Red Lobster Cheddar Bay biscuits

Thanks for the tip! Switched cores in RetroArch to SNES9x 2005 and it works great!
