I have two games I want to translate. I have no interest in going through all the effort of making a working patch, but I would like to make an excel spreadsheet at least with the entire text of the game translated for these two games. One is a PS2 game and one is a PSP game. I know how to translate, but how do you extract text from games? All the information on the internet I have found seems...disorganized. What tools like hex editors and the like do I require to get text from the ISO's on my PC.

That's because there's no reason for each game to store its text in the same way. Almost any time you want a game's script, you have to undertake a tedious and difficult reverse-engineering process to determine exactly how the programmers happened to store the text that day.

Why don't you just tell us the specific games?
