PGA Tour Golf (SNES) - Stroke Limit?
« on: February 20, 2020, 08:54:35 am »
Hey all. I'm trying to find a way to modify PGA Tour Golf for SNES to remove the stroke limit. I'm trying to come up with a way to make it so that no matter how many times a player misses the hole, the game will not move on until they sink the ball. Whether this is done by hex editing the ROM itself, or with the use of game genie, or whatever, any solution that works would be great.

After some trial and error I have found some relevant memory addresses:
7F0D8A, 7F0DF9, 7F0E68, and 7F0ED7 keep track of each of the 4 players' number of strokes each hole. I *can* use game genie to keep it at, say, 2. That way they never hit the stroke limit. But then I have no way of tracking exactly how many strokes were actually used by each player. I'd prefer to find the actual maximum number of strokes and modify that byte or something.

Any ideas or help is greatly appreciated!

IIRC the first PGA Tour game on SNES does not have a stroke limit. Is this about one of the sequels?
