mega everdrive X3/X5 PCB questions :)
« on: February 07, 2020, 01:49:00 pm »
Sup,my mega everdrive X3 pcb looks like a half populated X5.
Can I add he missing components and upgrade this X3 to an X5?
what are minimum cart connections needed for a mega everdrive X3/X5 to work?

At least ask on the right site. and if its possible.. very unlikely, even though x3 and x5 share same PCB, Im pretty sure the FPGA and or frimware has some sort of way knowing what variation it is so even if you add the missing components it'd still not add the missing functions. But you could always ask Krizz directly.

EDIT: someone already asked same question(though for game boy everdrive, but it still applies for this)

Thanks for the info. looks like it would require software to get the same FPGA used in both (Lattice ICE40) to report X5 instead of x3. There is a system reprogramming header on the PCB, but this stuff is way out of my league.
Whats up with the CART pin(B32)? it has a connection to the FPGA instead of the GROUND plane. why would the cart do this?
