Hi everyone,

I recently released a restoration hack for the SNES port of Street Fighter Alpha 2 that restores the red blood and Sodom’s name back to the international versions of this game, you can check it out here: http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/4687/

But I recently discovered that the background stages for Birdie, Guy and Sodom are censored in the international versions, here’s what they look like in the Japanese version:

On Sodom's stage, his truck has his name on the license plate and the trailer:

On Guy's stage, the word "KILL YOU" appears on the wall:

On Birdie's stage, there's two people peeing in the urinals and when you use a super move, the left stall opens:

The problem is I don’t know how to restore them, that’s why I’m looking for a hex editing expert that can help me on this. I also think some of these graphics are still in the international versions, but they’re disabled.

If someone can help me on this, that would be great.

Don't forget also of the "Sodom" written on hiragana on the Truck trailer.

You know this is one of the two SDD1 games?
Not sure if someone released a tool for the SDD compression.

(though you could probably do it the cheaty way and hack the old Graphics Pack files, but that would put it on the level of N64 Texture Pack hacks, which I don't believe qualify for this site database.)

Good chance the removed writing was just a simple palette change. No need to dig into the gfx.

Capcom did the same thing for international versions of resident evil with blood written on the wall on the 2nd floor:

No, they definitely changed the graphics on the wall in Guy's stage.
