Revised and re-colored these. Thanks to Spriter's Resource for the sprite rips.

Those look really nice! :)

First off, by Sega, do you mean Sega Genesis? Because that's not the only Sega console, there's also the Sega Master System (SMS) and Game Gear, among a few others. Second, I wish there were Doug games and more Snoopy games on the NES though. It is technically possible to create an NES homebrew of the Peanuts gang or Doug, in the style and/or spirit of an amazing game like, say, Super Mario Bros. 3.

My only concerns are: 1. Isn't Doug supposed to have shorter sleeves? 2. What is that monster that resembles Roger Klotz, would you call it Klotzilla or something like that?

But keep up the good work, whatever you're doing. These sprite sheets have a lot of potential!

I can already imagine Beavis and Butthead in the NES game Maniac Mansion, along with some other 90's cartoon characters.

Well, OK... But wouldn't you rather have a cartoon such as Beavis and Butthead be the stars of an NES game, rather than supporting characters, and do likewise for other cartoons that either got poor-quality NES games or no NES games at all?

It was for Sega Genesis  :)

I added some sprites to the Beavis and Butthead sprite sheets because while I'm a fan of them, I hated the Sega game. It could have been such a great game had they taken it a little more seriously. I always thought it would be cool to make a game based off of them like the Simpsons arcade game. Maybe the Beavis and Butthead game could be hacked and then made into some sort of beat em up?

The Doug sprites were from that game they made of him for Gameboy. I got those off of Spriter's resource and then recolored them. The problem is, I don't know which game he would fit best into. Maybe the Mario villains could be re-designed to look  like Doug characters? Maybe he could be in a Zelda type game, since that's how the game he was from was designed? Not really sure what to do with him. Maybe Zelda could be re-desinged to look like the Gameboy Doug game or something. Another idea is to maybe either hack the Simpsons NES game or a lesser known adventure game and put Doug into it?

Was thinking Snoopy and Woodstock could be in some sort of adventure type game. I modeled their sprites off of Mega Man. I don't really know which games they could fit into either. Maybe a hack could be made of one of the children's games like Duck Tales or Chip and Dale?

On a side note, I would love to see a NES version of the Simpson's Arcade game :D

My vote is for Beavis, Butt-Head, Doug, Porkchop, Snoopy and Woodstock all together in a Maniac Mansion style game.
Because of course that makes perfect sense.

While I do respect your opinion, I have a problem with this.

I think if we grouped all these characters into one game, especially without having separate games for each franchise at first, it'll look more like a fangame than anything else, particularly something out of this world.

But again, you're entitled to your opinion. :)

I was thinking about this today and came up with a few ideas as to which games these characters could fit into:

Snoopy and Woodstock -  Chip and Dale or Klokked: Charlie Browns adventure
The Charlie brown game would work because they were Charlie Brown characters. Also they were both animals in childrens cartoons, like Chip and Dale, so that could work. Also, I would rather see them throw things at people than see them hit people.

Beavis and Butthead - Bart vs Space Mutants, or Bart vs World, or a Double Dragon game
Bart's cartoon and the atmosphere in which it took place was similar to the ones that Beavis and Butthead came from. The towns look similar too, and one of the games has a lot of talking, so that could be hilarious. It would be cool to see a 2 player hack made. Double Dragon, with them, would just be funny.

Doug - Nightmare on Elm Street
There was an episode called "Doug's Nightmare on Jumbo Street" where he was afraid to watch the ending to a horror movie. It featured a character called the "Abnormal" who could be the boss of the game. He could be re-designed a few times to suit the Freddy Krugers bosses in the game. They could also maybe include some other Doug characters as enemies such as: Roger Klotz, Klotzilla, Wack Weatherman, Dr. Decay, Robobone, Percy Femur and maybe even the mayor. Just a thought. It held 4 players too so maybe a few others could be added.

I did a coupe of sprite edits of Beavis and Butthead in NES form (top). I resized the rest, but they are not colored yet. The ones at the top were recolored using the NES color palette. Just wanted to give everyone an idea of what they could look like.

First of all, I was joking.
Secondly, don't fool yourself into believing a game that uses these sprites would be anything that couldn't be considered a fan game. I mean, unless you're Charles Schulz or Mike Judge or whoever created Doug...

whoever created Doug...
That would be Jim Jinkins, I think.

Anyway, I guess you're right that a new game that uses these or similar sprites would likely be considered a fangame, especially that the developer would most likely be doing it without licenses from the company that makes a particular console (i.e. Nintendo and the NES) and the original creator.
