Translations: The Stories of Ihatovo translation patch released.
« on: December 29, 2018, 06:45:12 am »

Update By: Tom

A translation has been released for "The Stories of Ihatovo," an adventure game originally released in 1993 for the Super Famicom. The game focuses on several short stories written by the elusive Kenji Miyazawa.

The translation patch is available in both .bps and .ips format. Patching the Japanese rom will allow the game to be played in American English.

The hacking was done by DDSTranslation, the script was translated by Tom, and the title screen and in-game graphics were handled by FlashPV.

I've been checking the site constantly since Christmas Eve as there are a few SNES translation patches I'm expecting/hoping will be released for the holidays—and today I was instead surprised with this game, which I wasn't expecting at all and have never even heard of. The SNES translations just wont stop this year. Thanks to Tom et al for another great-looking SNES game!

Ничоси!
I beleived that this game never will be translated, because it's niche one. I hope for another atmospheric & beautiful game from the creators of Moon Crystal. Yeah, I read the article about it on HG101 already: http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/ihatovo-monogatari

Congrats on the release! I just got through the first chapter and it has a melancholy atmosphere that seems pretty cool so far.

There are too few adventure games translated for the Super Nintendo. I hope that more titles like Ihatovo, such as Famicom Bunko and Otogirisou, are also translated some day.

Well, I've just finished the game. Very poetic and leaves you with a deep nostalgic feeling. It's been quite a change of pace among so many "save-the-world, get-the-chick" rpgs,  ;D Thanks, as always, to all of you implicated in the project who have allowed us to finally experience this game in English.

I haven't found any typo or misspelling, but my girlfriend has pointed out a sentence that perhaps has a little redundancy. It's near the end of the game in one of the last chapters. I include a screenshot in the spoiler:

Spoiler:

It's this "one day" thing. Unless that repetition it's made on purpose, perhaps one of them would be enough?

Nice work there! I especially like the second map. It seems like it's been loved by the owner for a very long time!

By the way, the version two patch is available for download now. It fixes a redundant line near the end of the game, so please update your file for the best experience.

Glad you like it, and I want to work together with you again too, DougRPG!

I wonder if there are any other games that use Tengai Makyou Zero's graphics system. It'd be great to get the whole team back together again for another project!

I have heard many people post with your idea about Kenji Miyazawa. I personally disagree with that idea, though. I think that the protagonist is the reader of Mr. Miyazawa's work, not Kenji himself. They are merely seeing the world presented by the author.

This is why none of the characters in the game recognize the protagonist. I believe that, in a sense, the protagonist is each and every person who plays the game.

Hey, you're the guy who made that cool map!

I checked out your guide now. It's very thorough! Here are a few fixes to make it perfect:

Fasello ---> Fazello
Lily of the Forest ---> Lily of the Valley

Yup! that's me.  ;D you said you liked the 2nd map.. I did that thinking that it was a picture the main character
would carry in his suitcase to see where he was going.. HA HA!
I DO try and make my guides as thorough as possible, thanks for the compliment.
Thanks for the corrections also, not actually sure why I made that mistake, unless it's cos I was just tired.

Well, now it's perfect :D (I think)
