The sram patch is not region free. It changes the game's lockout to support NTSC/USA only.

If you want to play the game in English with sram on a PAL or Japanese console, you'll have to bypass the region lock some other way.

You use real console-emulator?
Genesis plus gx support the rare save system without needs of patches. The best way its use wii
or pc retroarch with gplus gx core.

Also run the game at 60hz and change VDP to 50hz,
Actually I prefer the slower music from PAL, only in wily wars atleast... I think sounds better, more harmonic, at 60, many missable thing, personally. Its turbo xd

This patch doesn't work on an original non-modified PAL megadrive.
You could use Action Replay codes or such things, to skip the error screen.
