This project seriously lacks any documentation so I wouldn't count on anything like a drop table, or similar.

What's the point of the spell and weapon list included 8.bit? They tell the player literally nothing of value and are full of ???'s. Are you working for PlayOnline?

Take some inspiration Weapons / Spells.

We could use an elaboration on everything the game's hack provides: Spells, Weapons, Armor, Items, etc..

Just started playing this in the past week, and completed Mt Hobs... Trying to grind for silver apples but havent seen any drops yet. I was wondering if you could let me know which enemies drop silver/gold apples and soma drops. That way I can spend time trying to farm for them in each area.

Thoughts so far... It was nice to discover the new areas by exploring thoroughly with the hovercraft. Really cool additions to the game so far... Attack power is a little high for this early, after finding access to some powerful equipment, but the options are definitely cool to see... I also like the new and updated status screen, which will really help later in the game when enemies get tough... Dialogue is very well done, and it will be fun to compare to the original as I progress... Very excellent mod so far, and I imagine it will keep getting better

Last thing... Concerning enemy drops. I dont know if you have a full list, but its just the stat increasing items I am mostly interested in.
Hi joe73ffdq!
Thanks so much for the kind words and much appreciated! Very glad to hear that you are enjoying the hack!! :)

Regarding enemy drops, you are in luck! :)
There's a doc with a complete enemy drop list that's posted on the Final Fantasy IV - Ultima discord server. Feel free to head on over and check it out!
Discord Channel for FF4 Ultima: https://discord.gg/4MqjwJt

It should be under the #spoilers. Karsh is the person maintaining the doc and I think right now it's a few versions back. Feel free to let me know if you'd like me to send you a version that's the most updated. :)

Hope you'll enjoy the rest of the hack and don't hesitate to reach out if you have any other questions and/or comments! :)

Cheers!!

I'm also interested in a list containing everything, drops included, that would be found in the game. Plus, a walkthrough would be nice.  ;)

Hi SailorCallie77! :)
You are in luck! :D
Karsh has created a doc with almost all of the things you mentioned over on the Final Fantasy IV - Ultima discord. Please head on over and look under #spoilers for the doc containing enemy drop list, weapons and armors, etc...
Discord Channel for FF4 Ultima: https://discord.gg/4MqjwJt

I do plan on creating a doc with a CHECK LIST of all the new stuff added to the hack. That should come out eventually.

Feel free to reach out if you have further questions/comments! :)

Cheers~!!   ;D ;) :)

Are you working for PlayOnline?

heh i have this strategy guide. I did not own a PC back in 2000 when FF9 came out, so i didnt have a clue back then about this being so bad.

i could only look at that dumb playonline website at my best friends house on his comp when we played through the game for our first time..

Gotta hate seeing this "making this game much more accessible to the more casual players."...

For all the optional, endgame, super bosses, ultimate challenges (whatever you wanna call these fights), it would be cool if there was some way to have rematches with them, so that you can always go back and test your might.

Hi Special!

You are welcome and thanks for the kind words! I made the main game easier so that casual players such as yourself will have an easier time with the game overall, thus making it more enjoyable for more players! :)
There are endgame challenges to this hack and some of the optional bosses will test even the most veteran of FF4 players! Some of the endgame bosses scale to you levels such as the AI and can be fought over and over again! Something for everyone! But if the endgame content pose too  much of a challenge, the main game should be much easier for you now!

Thanks for the continual support and enjoy the hack!! :)

Cheers!!

Hi Everyone! :)

Just when I thought I had released the final version of this hack, ideas and suggestions started coming in. So, who was I kidding, v5.30 of Final Fantasy IV - Ultima has just been released! :D One of the major changes is that you are no longer required to battle the AI at the Lunar Core for a normal play-through of the main game. Effectively making this game much more accessible to the more casual players. The AI is now an optional boss that guards the BIG SECRET of this hack! :)

Congrats on all the work so far!

Just got to Mt. Ordeals. I noticed using the Magic Map causes an explosion-like sound effect, and then my game soft locks.

Do you know if this graphic patch would be compatible with Ultima, or do the new graphics rearrange too much stuff internally?

Hi Celice! :)
Thanks so much for the kind words! Hope you are enjoying the hack so far!! :)

Oh yes, that bug was discovered and has been addressed already in the latest patch v6.0b! :)
Feel free to grab the new patch and update because your saves are 100% compatible so you can continue right where you are in the game! :)

https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/4134/

Unfortunately, the graphics patch is not compatible with the hack as it's gone through many extensive hacking and the space used in the rom will conflict with the patch. Sorry about that!

Feel free to reach out anytime if you have further questions! :)

Cheers!!

Great work on the "Ultima" project, 8.bit.fan!

I've been trying out the recent 6.0 update, and I was wondering if anyone else has been running into this very early game bug? Met Tellah in the Waterway section, did the save point/tent conversation, and then grabbed the Ice Rod.  When traversing from B3F to B2F, the game seems to place the player not in front of B2F's entrance way, but lodged in the middle of the screen, apparently in the blocky area to the right of the entrance.  All movement is restricted at this point, but I can still get into the menu.  I've tried multiple times to bypass this part, from resetting the game, to walking in normally instead of dashing, but I still run into the same stuck pattern.  Any thoughts or possible solutions?

I've uploaded a video to showcase what's been happening:

Hi Patricia Rey! :)
Thanks so much for the kind words and hope that you are enjoying the hack so far!! :)

OK that definitely sounds like an issue with the patching mixing up a non-header/headered version of the patch with the incorrect version of the rom. Make sure you use a non-headered rom with the non-headered ips patch, headered rom to headered ips patch.

If you'd like, I can send you PM on exactly what needs to be done.

Hope this works out for you and enjoy the rest of the hack! :)

This looks to have solved the issue, as yes, it looks like I was incorrectly applied the non-headered patch on a headered ROM.  Things are up and running well now -- thanks for the prompt response! :D
