I really can't find any good SNES Emu's ZSNES works terribly with the computer I'm using....

The reason I'm asking is because I'm going on a long journey to hack TLoZ - ALTTP (A.K.A Zelda3).

Try using one of the utilities currently available to get started on some hacking (i.e. Hyrule Magic). Have you tried that? And just to give you a heads-up, A Link to the Past is not really Zelda 3 (at least not officially).

I am familiar with Hyrule Magic, zcompress, and many more.... I just can't find a SNES emulator that has a good hex editor and ppu viewer, is there any??? :o :-[ Also https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/197/ this calls it Zelda3... It's just a short name for The Legend of Zelda - A Link to the Past, just google it and ALTTP will come up!

Geiger/EvilPeer's SNES9x builds have a hex editor.

Maybe some of the bsnes mods do.
How about Super Sleuth or no$snes?

But beyond them, the only SNES emu I have EVER seen with a PPU Viewer was a DOS-era emulator called Snemul (so it's sure far more outdated than even ZSNES).

You should pick an emulator depending on what do you want from it:
1. Higan/bsnes - the best
 - the most accurate emulation
 - emulate pretty much all of available SNES hardware
 - cheat

2. no$sns - the paradise for the hacker
 - PPU (VRAM) Viewer (screen, BGs, Tiles, Sprites, Palettes);
 - I/O viewer - you can see PPU, SPU, DMA/HDMA registers
 - Debugger - trace, breakpoints (the best Debugger I have seen for SNES)
 - neat features - Assembly/Disassembly on the fly, Assembly in memory
 - other features - that I have never used: BSS/NSS tokens,...

3. ZSNES - save-state donor for many tools

4. SNES9x:
 - fast emulation - good for old computers
 - Net play
 - cheat

So if you going to hack, 2) is a must (if you want easy life that is), 1) is needed if you write ASM code, 3) if you use tools that can use save-states.
