New 3D Golf Simulation - Devil's Course (Japan) (1068, clean)
Fixed. PID is not needed for Devil's Course but it doesn't do any harm.

New 3D Golf Simulation - Waialae no Kiseki (Japan) (1068, clean)
Not fixed. Slight different gfx corruption: https://i.imgur.com/Q4x9ZLs.png
Would appreciate a 2nd opinion.

Best Shot Pro Golf (Japan) = OK, 0000
(golf career/management sim, did some training and practicing - no direct control of golfer in this game)

BS Golf Daisuki! O.B. Club (Japan) = OK, 0000
(also works: translation: I Love Golf Out of Bounds Club)

Namcot Open (Japan) = OK, 0000
(played a hole)

Okamoto Ayako to Match Play Golf - Ko Olina Golf Club in Hawaii (Japan) = C7, tried 0000 and hakchi 6810
(video of correct operation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18azGYEY57I

St. Andrews - Eikou to Rekishi no Old Course (Japan) = OK, 0000
(played some training)

Super Birdie Rush (Japan) = OK, 0000
(played a hole)

Super Naxat Open - Golf de Shoubu da Dorabocchan (Japan) = OK, 0000
(played a hole)

EDIT:

Winter Gold
with --boost-fx 2 there's some corruption in player sprite when it is initially drawn, tiles that make up player are jumbled and/or missing.
nothing that needs fixing at this point but I thought i'd mention it.

New 3D Golf Simulation - Waialae no Kiseki (Japan) (1068?, clean)
https://www.sendspace.com/file/30lesc

Wicked Golf needed 1068 for (black bar) menus. But maybe New 3D Golf is older engine than that. Nice testing. Didn't know there's that many snes golf games.

Maybe boost 1.99 or similar would fix sprite problem.

===1
Raiden Densetsu (Japan) = use English patch. Same nmi, irq engine.

3dgolf_devil1.ips + 1068 = Success!
Everything looks to be in correct working order.
Matt! says 1068 is not needed though, so maybe does not need the Preset ID.

3dgolf_waialei.ips + 1068 = Not fixed.
I'm getting the exact same thing that Matt! is getting.
Also this during the opening intro:
https://i.imgur.com/MYNVwMb.jpg

eye2_japan.ips = Success!
Same result as Arkiokin, looks good.

Set 2, I got the same results as Arkiokin. All appear to be fine.

dq3_1b.bps + 0000 + 03 = Looking really good so far!
Everything seems to be working in terms of gameplay. I was able to do everything with no crashes or black screens (battles, menu options, etc.).

There is an issue with some garbled/wrong text though. I'm assuming it's reading from wrong area.

Item list, when selecting weapon or armor. The description for the item is messed up.
Picture 1

Same issue. When giving weapon/armor to other, description is messed up (should say "can't" as well).
Picture 2

Stores are kind of a mess.
Picture 3

Winter Gold, I started incorporating the B button for hills/jumps. I really started decreasing my times for Downhill.
Even messing up a lot of the B button jumps, I still was able to get a time of 1:40.32.
If I was a god at this game, I can easily see getting a time of 1:38.

I can confirm what Matt! says.

There's two issues compared to Higan:

1. The opening intro music is de-synchronized from the opening intro cutscene.

2. Sprite jumbling when character is first drawn to screen.

I remember T&E Soft as basically making two things: Hydlide and golf. ;D
(although I think there was something else they were notable for?)

Okamoto Ayako to Match Play Golf - Ko Olina Golf Club in Hawaii (Japan)
-- C7 on boot? I don't see anything that'd trigger this one. ^^

Waialae should be fixed with previous 1a update.

Winter Gold music = not sure. If fx boost is making this problem, huh.

Raiden Densetsu + Raiden Trad patch = Success!
I tried going back and finding the download link for the Raiden Trad patch, unfortunately the download is no longer active.
I used the patch that is linked in the community doc.

3dgolf_waialei_1a.ips = Success!
I tested both Preset ID 0000 as well as 1068.
Preset ID 0000 appears to be working correctly, no need for 1068.

3dgolf_devil1.ips + 0000 = Success!
No need for Preset ID 1068.

Winter Gold clarifications:

I did some testing by comparing with Winter Gold (NTSC) and no -boost-fx.
The opening intro music/cutscene de-synchronization is still there, but is less de-synchronized.

De-synchronization is 100% a result of PAL -> NTSC conversion.
-boost-fx 2 just amplifies the de-sync.

Sprite jumbling is NOT present with no -boost-fx.
I will try changing the -boost-fx value like you suggested, and see what happens.

EDIT:

I also want to say, I am so impressed with you Sluffy!
Ever since the Classic was released, it had basically been an established fact that ExHiROM games would never run on Canoe.
And yet here you are, doing the impossible! Such a great idea to convert to S-DD1!
Seriously, absolutely amazing work Sluffy!

Dragon Quest 3 (0000 + 03) (English)
https://www.sendspace.com/file/h2j7w4

exhirom map:
00-7f = p1 (2nd 4MB)
80-ff = p0 (1st 4MB)

Then everything works again. Didn't expect DQ3 to work - thought it was impossible.

Okamoto Ayako to Match Play Golf - Ko Olina Golf Club in Hawaii (Japan) - This game works fine, you need to shorten up the filename before adding it to hakchi

Everything is looking great!

I played for a bit (it's hard to put down), and I haven't encountered anything wrong as of yet!

Amazing work Sluffy, as always!

Guessing 64 chars.

72 = Okamoto Ayako to Match Play Golf - Ko Olina Golf Club in Hawaii (Japan)
64 = Okamoto Ayako to Match Play Golf - Ko Olina Golf Club in Hawaii
32 = Okamoto Ayako to Match Play Gol

Just added "Puzzle Bobble - Busfffffffffffffffffffffffddddddd fkdsjkl fdjsk fsdjklfj sdklfj sdklj fklsd jfklsdj fkl djsfklj sdlfj sdjflsd kklklfgfgf dddddddddddddddddd t-A-Move (Europe).sfc" and it worked. Weird.

Edit: Just tried "Okamoto Ayako to Match Play Golf - Ko Olina Golf Club in Hawaii (Japan).sfc" and it worked too. Wonder if it's because I am using CE and they added support for longer names.

Hmm. I'm using CE 1.1.0 so will try again. Probably user error on my side.

1.2.4 here, so it could still be an update feature.

From byuu's forum I got a video for '96 Zenkoku Koukou Soccer Senshuken. The flickering happens on real hardware too:

http://www.mediafire.com/file/69raxrmsaodms38/96_Zenkoku_Koukou_Soccer_Senshuken_%28Japan%29.mkv

Do you guys need real hardware Winter Gold videos of the game or something? I could get it for you from creaothceann in byuu's forums. Tell me exactly what you need.

-------

Please help out testing games that haven't been tested before.

There are tons of Japanese games that have not been tested yet, or at least reported. I would like to do something about it, so I compiled a list of games that haven't received reports yet. Since there are so many, and I don't want to overwhelm anyone, I will post a list of 15 games, split in segments of 5 games. So anyone that wants to test will take any of the segments (or all?) and claim it so that no one else repeats the same tests.

I will then add the games and results to the Compatibility doc and to sluffy's doc, and if a game has an issue, then sluffy might fix it in the future.

Some guidelines:
  • Use a No-Intro set.
  • Use Hakchi to add the game, do not use SFROM Tool.
  • Just test if a game boots, check the menus and start the gameplay. If everything is fine, then good. If there's an issue with the graphics or sound, please report back with as much detail as possible, and if you can, make a video or take a pic of the issue. Even reporting something silly like a game giving a black screen in silence versus a game giving a black screen with music is sometimes the trigger that allows sluffy to fix a game. So don't skimp on the details.

We did Bishoujo Janshi Suchie-Pai, that was the one with the weird hi-res girl images before each stage if you recall. The official PID has that screen as black, and using 1016 made them look weird.
