[TECHNICAL][GB] Localization Programming

hi ! 😺

im very interested in translating ネコジャラ物語 (nekojara monogatari) released on the gameboy as a side project :

i wanted to know if anyone would be interested in helping with localization programming ? this game has never been officially localized (i contacted KEMCO about helping to officially localize it but i have not received a response yet) nor fan-translated. its a great game to revisit.

hi danke ! nice to meet you ! i don't have experience with ROM hacking / programming so thank you so much ! i only have 日本語→EN translation + excel vba localization programming skills. would it be possible if you could extract the dialogue text, etc from the game and send it to me so i can translate them ?

also, i asked mato (mother 3 translator) if he wanted to help out as well so he maybe joining us if he has time !

Alright, after a bit of work, I've dumped all the text in the game.

You can download the script here.

This game has a very advanced scripting system, and contains lots of control codes - some of which can access RAM directly.

It also has a compression scheme - a very large dictionary. There is so much text and so little space. It will be interesting to adapt.

Don't want to butt in, but the ROM can be expanded for virtually unlimited text space. It's easy peasy on the GB.
