New Heroes Legend (translation help for some lines)
« on: October 27, 2017, 01:10:13 am »
The game is 新英雄伝説, and I have a couple questions about some lines.

1) Here the main characters, the prince and friends are at the item shop. The shop keep says the following lines.  I was wondering if the following translation is fine.  I have a hard time believing a mere shop keep is asking a prince "Welcome,  what kind of business do you have here?".  Or is that literally what it should be?
道具屋
はい、いらっしゃいませ。ここは道具屋ですがどんな、ご用ですか?
Item Shop
Oh, welcome.  This is the item shop, what are you looking for today?

2)  Here the villain Akudamu was overthrown and fled from the country.  The prince and friends are going after him to kill his dumb ass.  The townsfolk are more than ok with this since he was throwing his weight around and being a despot.

王子さま、絶対にアクダムの野郎をめっためたに、やっつけて下さいよ。
Man
Prince, you must defeat that bastard Akudamu completely please! (?)

I am not sure what めっためたに is.  Maybe "completely"  from the context?  Actually one definition metta is "extreme". I found  several links that is is some dragon quest move.  Meta from another game?  Or it is some slang or something.  If anyone could give me a decent translation with that in there I would be grateful.

3) Here a man is wanting Prince to become king as soon as possible.  But getting the phrase 一日も早く, in there is for some reason eluding me. I am not quite sure how to translate it.

セリオスさまが一日も早く国王になられる日を楽しみに待っております。
I am eagerly awaiting the day Selios-sama will become king. (?)

4) This one I have seen before, but not quite sure again how to make it sound correct.  There are people in town and they are greeting the prince.

あっ、これは王子さま。ご機嫌うるわしゅう御座います。
Man
Ah, hello prince.   I hope you are in good health. (?)

Thank you for your time for looking at these.

Hey there :) Since none of my more learned colleagues have responded, here's my input.

1)The last clause is a generic offer of service as in "what kind of transaction are you here for". A natural English phrasing be:
"Ah, welcome to my curio shop. What can I get for you today"

2) Not completely sure about めっためたに. One reference gives it as slang for 'decisively defeat' A natural English phrasing might be:
"Prince, please destroy that bastard Akudama completely.

3) I suggest:
"I look forward to seeing lord Selios become king soon."
If you want to leave the sentence structure more intact:
"I wait eagerly for the day to come soon when lord Selios becomes king."

4) Just a generic polite greeting. ご機嫌麗しゅうございます。
Something like:
"Greetings prince, good health to you."

Keep up the good work!

The speaker seems to be in disbelief at the main character using the store. It's less of a 'how can I help you today?' so much as it is a 'what could you be looking for here?'

めっためた is another way of saying めちゃくちゃ, I think the small っ is creating voice and emphasis in the word. I don't think the translation is far off, but I would say 'please destroy' is sufficient. Defeating something completely sounds a bit off.

I don't think your translation is off here, although I would adjust the English = 'I eagerly await the day Selios-sama becomes king.'

It sounds like the guy is meeting him for the first time. 'Ah, so this is the prince? Good health to you.
