Arcade game hacking question
« on: September 07, 2017, 05:53:12 pm »

Months ago I modificated VS Ice Climber and VS Super Mario. Then I tried to run my modifications, but MAME said a file is missing or it's a CHD image.

What can I do? Did I do something wrong?

I haven't poked at MAME in a long time, but I'm guessing it's comparing the checksum of your modified ROMs with the checksum in its database, and complaining because they don't match.  You should be able to disable that somewhere.

I think several NES emulators support the VS games, including FCEUX; you can test them that way just to make sure they're still working.

This is a big problem... I passed thru it also.
I modified color values in Moon Patrol Williams ROM and MAME did not accept it all anymore.
If there is a way to modify the database to add the new checksum, I really would love to know!
