well, i just saw this and thought it might be interesting but you lost me at MSU-1.
-_- "-MSU-1 audio and video files (1.2GB total size)"
i've yet to see a single romhack that is worth going through all the extra trouble (and the colossal waste of time of downloading the extra music. which, in this case, would be days upon days of downloading on my slow wifi.) of using MSU-1 audio which far more likely than not is just a collection of remixes and other tracks.
i'd try this hack but only if the MSU-1 BS wasn't necessary.
if they eventually run those fiber optic lines down by our house where we can get DSL, actual high speed, internet here THEN i might try this hack as the 1.2GB likely wouldn't be a major issue.
Treos, I have to say we really don't mind bad criticism, but we do dislike false information backed up with negativity.
The game is completely playable without MSU-1. This is valid for any device which can run SNES. The pirates even made a repro cart already (obviously without MSU-1). If the MSU files are not found the game will know to play "regular" music instead.
MSU is not "bullshit" as you have called it and not "just a collection of remixes". The original game does in fact use 39 tracks, and the MSU-1 for it is in fact a "remix" since it sounds almost the same. But even in the original game it is worth to listen to the MSU.
Conker on the other hand uses 100 tracks (as opposed to 39). So not only are some of the songs brand new and were creted from scratch by our MSU team, they were also expanded by 3. There are 3 times as much songs as what the original game had, thus the size was boosted up, specially because of the video.
Or in other words it is not only worth it to play this game on MSU, it is highly worth it (and yet completely optional), since now the game uses more, better and completely different songs, as well as the intro video. Playing this game on regular sound might not even fit into the Conker universe.
1.2 GB can be downloaded in 20 minutes, if you are using the up to date 1MB/s connection which most of the internet hosts are providing. It even goes to 1.5MB at max.
Even if you use half that by other/slower internet connections, you will thus have 500KB/s, 40 min to download, and if you use 250KB/s, it takes 80 min. If you use 125KB/s, it will take 160 minutes (which is 2h 40 min). At worst you will use 60KB/s, and it will then take 320 min (around 5 hours).
If you run bellow or even to 60KB/s, then you should seriously reconsider having/paying internet at all.
Even on hyper slow 15KB/s, which does not even exist as a provided speed, it will take 20 hours, which is not even 1 day. So in any case it can never be "days uppon days".
I can download it in 37 minutes, so thus I have 0.5MB/s, which indeed is a "normal" speed.
Thanks for the mod, I gave it a try, it just seems to be great!
But I don't understand how you save in this game. My first play was saved automatically (after finishing the first dungeon). I lost all my progress on my second play, having finished a full dungeon, boss included. I couldn't find any save point or whatever. Are there any save option I missed?
You save like this:
1.) When you are defeated choose the first option, which equals to Save and Continue, or the second option, which is Save and Quit. Forget what it says there: it says like blue pill, red pill etc. Choosing "f* this game" means Do not save and continue.
2.) At any moment in the game press the button which equals the "select" on the SNES joystick. First option is Continue, second option is "Save and Quit", again forget the blue/red pills, for this will require for you to understand the Matrix movie.
As far as I know Morpheus offers Neo 2 pils (red and blue), one is for returning to his normal life, the other one for him to know what Matrix is, by leaving it. I actually don't know which is which myself and how this can be equal to saving is even more complex.
