Langrisser III translation project - A New Hope?
« on: February 27, 2017, 01:16:08 am »
In Romhacking download section there is a unfinished english translation patch from CyberWarriorX for Langrisser III menus but for nothing else.
A translator by the name of Akari_Dawn has translated everything else only he doesn't know how to insert them back into the patch.

Here are the translated files:

https://github.com/akaridawn/lang3

and here:

https://github.com/akaridawn/langrisser3pc

Similar to what i did for Tom by forcing him to re-join this forum and to start again the work on Far East of Eden Zero i want to do for Langrisser III. I wanna persuade Akari_Dawn to join this forum and form a great team just like Tom did.  After seeing what Tom's team has accomplished in a few months i believe the same can happen to Langrisser III on this forum!

This is awesome news if LIII is finally translated. That only leaves Langrisser V now to fully finish the series off.

It is translated but it isn't hacked yet. The good news is that the hacking usually goes pretty fast after translation is finished which it is.

My favourite game in the series is Langrisser - Kouki no Matsuei on PC Engine CD because i can't stand the Genesis version. One of the best games on PCE CD for sure!

Hey there everyone,
fist of all many thanks go to dejan07 for initiating this. Nice idea spreading the word over here.

Concerning the project, Cyber Warrior X has done all the hacking on his own till now but hasn't been able to spent much time on it lately. He's still dedicated to finish this project but could really use some helping hands.

So, if someone would be willing and able to to join the hacking fun, it would be pretty awesome and speed up the process significantly.

Just let me know if your interested and we'll see what we can do to get this translation up and running!

Hey guys,

Yeah originally I was helping out due to my past work with Langrisser III but I was hoping someone else take a bigger role on the hacking end.

As akari mentioned I've been pretty swamped since last fall my father passed away. He was a pretty bad hoarder and it's taken pretty much all my free time cleaning up his house.

I'll start documenting what all needs to be done yet if anyone wants to take a look.

Nice to hear from you guys. It will be great if you could explain what still needs to be done hacking wise.

CyberWarriorX has updated his GitHub about Langrisser III project. This gives me hope since translation is finished only hacking remains.
If somebody wishes to help him go to:

:)

I've been trying to put some time in while juggling other responsibilities. I had to update Princess Crown so Sam and others could get back to work on it. I'm pretty much done there. Also I have to take care of things relating to Yabause. I'm planning on leaving that project once I've had a chance to complete some of the fixes and work I had on my todo list.

As for Langrisser III now, I've also added some items to the github wiki(it's still a work in progress). There may be some odd stuff that needs translating yet, but akari finished the scenario text which is like 99% the work. I'm also going to start adding a lot of more of my notes to the wiki.

Thanks for the Princess Crown update, Sam is the right man for the job for sure. Just to make it clear what exactly is left to do on Langrisser III project?

As i understand the translation is finished and needs only to be reinserted back into rom?

I won't deny I'd love to work on the rest of the series for Saturn, but I think it'd have to be user supported. Like patreon or something along those lines given the amount of time that'd be required.

Langrisser 4 is already translated in english for the Playstation. Langrisser 5 would make more sense to do but let's hope for Langrisser 3 to be finished until Christmas! ;D

Langrisser I, II, IV, and V were on psx. Langrisser III was ported over to PS2 and PC. I actually own all of the psx and saturn games. And honestly I think the saturn games were better.

I got somewhat lucky in that I was able to pick up my games before ebay started going nuts with prices. Though I recall paying much more for the psx games. At least Langrisser I & II for psx has a nice artbook and pins the come with the game.

The opening Battle at home castle, you are supposed to flee to win...

BUT!  YOU!  CAN!  WIN!!!!

oH YAH  I DID IT ALRIGHT IT TOOK  A LOT OF PRESSES OF THE RESET BUTTON TO MASTER THE FIRST BATTLE..!!!!

Usually it I would send the prince/Garett to reinforce the western gate/side of the castle and the the knight-master Baldarove,
TO the eastern gate before Sabra bites the dust! Uggh USELESS! ;) :P

first... the eastern gate will be the toughest with the boss and his phoenixes coming that way!!

defeating the lizards on the west gate and the south are a priority before the heroes on the east gate fail!

I give balanced unit counts to both playable characters...!!

once the Prince/Garett is finished on the west gate its south to finish off the Lizards. then to the east gate BEFORE the Phoenixes and the BOSS of the map makes it to the WEST gate!!
