Utilities: bsnes-plus v073+3 released
« on: December 03, 2016, 09:54:10 pm »

Update By: Revenant

Version 3 of bsnes-plus has been released!

Along with several emulation and interface updates, this debugging-oriented version of bsnes now features powerful new VRAM and tilemap viewing tools to make exploring and debugging SNES ROMs easier than ever.

In addition, bsnes-plus now features the most complete and accurate Satellaview/BS-X emulation available, and is the official replacement for the bsnes-sx2 project.

Does it allow for on the fly tile editing?

You mean like Nesticle? I highly doubt it. Even on NES that only worked with games that fed tile data directly from the ROM. There's no practical way of tracking which tiles in video memory came from what locations in the ROM, especially when there is compression involved.

Not even the latest release of higan?

Higan's emulation of the actual Satellaview hardware is almost nonexistent, and its support for BS-X cartridges/memory packs is pretty minimal (and in some cases seems to be based on outdated/incorrect research). You can probably run some basic BS-X Memory Pack games with it (if you can even figure out how to load them), but they probably won't work much better than old bsnes versions, if at all.

So awesome :) Load super mario kart and watch the tilemap viewer for insta maps.

How is the debugger used? I can't get real time disassembly to show, that window is always empty.
