Tim and clut
« on: February 07, 2016, 05:26:47 pm »
Hi to all

I´m editing some TIM files using tim2view and paint.net, always when I insert the png in a TIM the previous pallete doesnt change and
ends up messing the colors of the image, normally I re-ajust the colors manually in tim2view, but now I have to edit large images with a lot of colors and is a pain to edit all the images with the manual ajust method

It´s posible to import the image without messing the pallete with tim2view or with another program/method?

I am also in need of help for this issue. Please post if you have any info on how to deal with this issue or if you have any ideas on alternate software I could be using to replace PSX graphics. Thanks!

If the palette is shared or something else that doesn't allow you for an easy palette editing: save the original palette, make your changes, apply again the original palette without changing the order of indices. If you use Photoshop you don't even need a converter to deal with TIM images, there is a nice plugin for that in the utilities section.

Hey, thanks for the quick response! Unfortunately I am no closer to getting these horrible TIM files to do what I want. Even when I make sure to stay within the original texture's palette, it still scrambles all the colours.

So first of all I grab the texture I want to edit, then export it to a .png...

Then when I reimport it this happens! Notice that the palettes are exactly the same, but it looks all wrong...

Could it be that I'm saving it in the wrong format or something?
Thanks again for your help!

You'd think someone named Timothy Clut would know all there is about TIMs and CLUTs.

Then don't bother with Tim2View and use something else. That sounds like a bug.

I found out recently Crystaltile2 has partial support for TIM files.

Tim2View does not properly support some TIM files. The only tool I am aware of it is fully capable of handling TIM files is TIMViewer by rveach.

I wasn't making fun of the name, I thought it was clever and was laughing with him. But I guess one reason to jump down someone's throat is as good as any, right?  ::)
