Saiyuuki World translation project
« on: November 14, 2015, 01:03:12 pm »
I tried to make an translation for this game, and got many information and snapshot all the text in the game but at tile layer pro things didn't go so well....so I failed, anyone who might want to try to continue my work look at the info I've wrote bellow.

Download the images here and read their names for help, you can ask me if you don't understand something.
http://www.dropbox.com/s/lefh8o7z58q93tx/Saiyuuki%20World%20text.rar?dl=0

Use this faq for further help. http://www.gamefaqs.com/nes/579346-saiyuuki-world/faqs/58420

By the way the problem is in tile layer pro I couldn't edit the graphics of the japanese, because you can't find them only if you go to view and change the format to 1BPP and the stupid thing is if you try to edit them they will edit as hell....anyway they are found about halfway in tlp.

Hi,
TLP is rather old hat now, I would recommend something like YY_CHR.NET: http://www.romhacking.net/utilities/958/ . You can offset per byte using the "-" & "=" keys. The Hiragana in Saiyuuki overlaps so it can be a little tricky to see. あ starts here 0xdc94. The first color in the palette is used for the overlaps so make sure to use that when colors overlap. Hope this helps, let me know if you need any more advice or if this was not useful at all.

It's weird because it's actually compressed.

Thanks!
The problem is I don't know how to use pointers and I need them because some text are too big.

So this end here I suppose it will be a half translation because 1 I don't know how to handle pointers and 2 I don't find anywhere the translated text for the remaining image.
So If someone wants to continue from where I left (I doubt this) they can download all the info they need here https://www.dropbox.com/s/qlyka5w61mozq1d/swh.rar?dl=0
And the patch of the half translation here https://www.dropbox.com/s/2a1odj68e0osibv/swp.rar?dl=0
Half enjoy  ;D

Wait - you're not even going to try pointers any further?
Have you read the docs?

I'm trying out the game.. does the game have this inherent scrolling issues? I tried it on virtuaNES and FCEUX.

1 By trying it you mean play or translate (I think play)
2 I never saw that error before and I use VirtuaNES

That looks like maybe your ROM header has the Mirroring bit set wrong. It should be Vertical.

I played it with the original first, same effect with your hack.

Try Nestopia and puNES.
The game works on Nestopia fine.

I just discovered NEShead. It fixed the mirroring to vertical. The game now is playable on FCEUX & VirtuaNES. Maybe a got a crappy copy of the game? :)
