« on: October 23, 2015, 06:25:50 pm »
I´m thinking about start playing Super Mario World hacks, and I´ve seen quite few of them, but most are cheap or too hard.

So do you guys have some good hacks to recommend me to start with?(if possible a easier one,or someone with NEW MUSICS)

You played The Second Reality Project Reloaded or The Second Reality Project 2 Reloaded?  Great hacks there, though you may find them a tad hard.

Brutal Mario could be cool, and carol's... questionable level design means its difficulty level isn't particularly high.

Yoshi's Strange Quest is a nice fun, Yoshi's Island inspired hack:

Toad's World could be your thing as well.  Level design isn't the best, but it looks and sounds amazing and its moderately easy as well:

Super Mario Bros 3X is quite fun, albeit a bit close to SMB 3:

Alex No's hacks are mostly quite good, with a reasonable difficulty curve:

And when it's done, my own Mario hack (Mario's Nightmare Quest) should be an easy and enjoyable experience.  There's a demo here, but I'd wait til the final version in December or so personally:

somewhere in Gaming Discussion I also asked this question I think earlier this year or last year, there might be some hacks that CM30 might have missed

Hyper SBURB World(Homestuck)

EDIT: just actually read the request, don't know why I didn't do that In the first place,  now I feel like an absolute asshole for suggesting Combo Killer, I'll leave it it up though, just in case anyone else wants to have a go at it.

I'm sorry to brink this old thread back from the dead but "The Second Reality Project 1 Reloaded" got a silent re-release in December 2017 that now works on "accurate" emulators like bsnes and recent versions of snes9x, unlike the one originally released in November 2014 which had sound issues and broke on bsnes & recent snes9x versions.

Here is the updated link to The Second Reality Project Reloaded 1 hack from SMW Central:

the folks from romhacking.net may not be aware that TSRP reloaded v1.2 was quietly re-released in Dec. 2017 at the SMWC web site with the sound problems fixed.

Mario is Missing Done Right is a must-play.  You play as Luigi, and the game takes ideas from SMB3 in a few ways.  Difficulty is about the same as Mario.

Return to Dinosaur Land is basically more SMW, if you haven't played that yet.

Gamma V's hacks are good if you are looking for easy-normal difficulty hacks that has almost nintendo-like level designs. JUMP and JUMP½ are also good hacks but they get hard after while(JUMP takes longass time to get into the more interesting levels imo).
