Since I've been talking about it elsewhere already I feel I should mention the two (the only?) Nage Libre games I've played. One for the SNES and one for PS1.

They are turn-based strategy games with card-based battles and all of the units are school girls. As the story progresses you make more friends and therefore have new allies. Each girl can be changed into whatever you need (between battlefields) and the farther you get into the game the more options you have for unit types. Each girl can join whatever clubs you have access to at the time and the club you have them join determines what type of unit they are. The generic unit attacks with a bookbag. If you join the basketball team, you fight with basketballs. Join the tennis club, you fire tennis balls, etc.

In the PS1 version, if you have friendly units close by when entering battle they will show up as cheer-leaders during your battle. I assume they give you stat boosts.

The Nage Libre games were strange variations on the strategy genre indeed. War games for girls?!? They are fun and simple. I like them because they're not the kind of strategy games where you get bogged down in micro-managing everything. They're very easy to just pick up and play without having to know what's going on outside the battlefield besides saving, changing clubs, etc.
War is Peace. Freedom is Slavery. Ignorance is Strength.

I believe he's referring to the pornographic games for the system; the infamous one being Custer's Revenger.

You are correct, good sir.

I too was once morbidly interested.  But I learned.

OK, I just saw this

I don't know of these, and I'm kind of morbidly interested. I mean, how Not-For-Kids could Atari games possibly be?

Just let that title sink in for a bit.

The Parodius series. They play like refined Gradius games, but the content is weird and hilarious. One video that sold me on the series was that giant schoolgirl boss humping a Bullet Bill. They're a delight.

In Ganbare Goemon 4 you're stalked at one point in a cricket field by a mahraja robo with sunglasses and hilarious mustaches chanting "Come and Dead". Other weird platformers include Papuwa-kun for the SNES (by the same devs who brought you The Violonist of Hamlin).

In the same vein of Seaman, there's Ganbare Neo Poke-Kun. A pet sim with a depressed programmer where you get to torment him/cheer him up with strippers. SEGAGA is an entire RPG about managing and fighting mutated programmers at Sega's HQs to save the DreamCast, with Sega consoles as final bosses, also you get to make hilarious parodies of classic gaming franchises (like Final Pharmacy).

There are weirder games than these two, but I remember an arcade game called Bubbles that was about a drop of water on a sink that collects... things like grease, and ants that come out of the drain. and avoiding sponges, blades and big insects...

...Until you get enough "shit", then you get bigger and the sponges would bounce when they touched you. The blades were always 1-hit Ko (And very annoying) and for the insects you needed to grab a broom from a very small lady (Or witch, I don't remember) that sometimes appeared and use it against them.

Revolution X is a (an?) Arcade On-Rails Shooter with AEROSMITH in it. The plot goes like this: You are on your way to a concert of the band when suddenly, out of the blue, a group of "oppresive alliance" called THE NEW ORDER NATION takes over the world.

But of course, that won't stop you. You're going to that damn concert, so you take your machine gun (because of course you have one) and start shooting at the evil grunts until you get to the concert, where the bad guys kidnap all the members of Aerosmith (which by the way, keep singing while everybody is shooting around).

For some reason your character goes to the room of Steve Tyler and after killing several dozens of bad guys, you see that he left a video tape for you (what) and it has Steve talking to YOU, giving information and also giving you permission to take their car, THROWING THE KEYS THROUGH THE TV DIRECTLY TO YOUR HAND, and then you're part of the Revolution X started by Aerosmith to save the world.

And that's the beginning. It's so incredibly silly, weird and crazy that it's awesome.
I'm off for some time. If for some weird, strange, and important reason, you need to talk to me, just send me a PM and probably I'll read it whenever I come back.

It was basically a sequel to the Terminator 2 arcade game.
I do remember the SNES version of Revolution-X being almost unplayable. No mouse support and despite having cursor speed options, they don't seem to work and all of them move way too fast.
I think (and maybe Genesis?) were kind of famous as bad console ports.

Middens comes to me as one of the strangest games I have played. Its a semi surreal delight, with its own internal consistency that makes it very appealing.

Gyossait, along with All of our Friends are Dead and Au Sable are a bunch of surreal horror platformers/shooters with some of the densest atmospheres ever. AooFaD and Au Sable are somewhat buggy an slow performing, but they remain a bit more interesting than Gyossait (which is still great). Dont expect to fully get the idea of whats going on on either.

Did anyone mention Katamari yet?  That might be one of the most original and weirdest games ever.

Any of the Katamari games are pretty odd.

I didn't know that there were ports for the 16 bit consoles... Those have to be pretty disappointing, seeing the arcade one.

I just about finished Chibi-Robo: Plug into Adventure! for the Gamecube. It's pretty bonkers too, but in a good way!

You control a small robot that has for goal to make everyone in it's surrondings happy, in this case, a family house. You go exploring around the home, solving problems, cleaning, helping the quite decent ammount of characters (for just one house), and doing a lot of weird things.

Things get both very silly sometimes and unexpected with some twists.

For example the father is a fanboy of a Sentai show and has EVERY F****G SINGLE PIECE OF MERCHANDISING lying around the house. Action figure, posters, books (LOTS of those) rucksacks, you name it. There's one point where you can even listen to a vocal version of the show's theme and it's the cheesiest thing ever (intended).

Overall, I think it is one of those weird games with quirky humour and a lot of charm that may not be for everybody, but if you dig it it's quite awesome. It has a lot of events and little details everywhere.

In some sense reminds me a little of Majora's Mask, it has a Day/Night system where things change and is about experiencing the crazyness that it offers, pretty much.

I'm really happy to have found a copy.

Another one that I've found is Opoona, a very strange RPG for the Wii.  I'll see what it is about.

As far as computer games go Exoptable Money, and Presentable Liberty take the cake for me for being not only weird but downright disturbing in the way they present an innocent face at first.

As for consoles though, I'm gonna throw Mischief Makers out there,  it is completely spectacular and bizarre in a great randomly anime-ish kind of way.

I grew up playing a lot  of weird old stuff for 80's computers.  Jeff Minter stuff like Anciptial, Hovver Bovver and Sheep In Space, though he's calmed down now with his Tempest homages. Covertape trash like Advanced Lawnmower simulator or Bionic Granny and though I never had it Cock'In basically a chicken simulator. Can remember something called Wheelin' Wallie too, the main character was half mouth half unicycle.
A log of some kind.
