PSX Imager
« on: August 28, 2015, 09:41:08 am »
Can someone compile the PSXImager?
https://github.com/cebix/psximager

It seems to be a great utility to change files in a psx image.
Would be worth to add it in the utilities section.

You can use http://www.emuparadise.org/EPLinks/CDTools/CDmage1-02-1B5.rar to extract and replace files in a psx cd image
and http://www.romhacking.net/utilities/848/ as a command line tool for replacing files.

Rebuilding the ISO image is needed only when files change their original size.  Since many games use an internal file table that 99% of the time has to be modified to account for file sizes changes,
just rebuild the ISO image is not enough.

Anyway, it seems this tool is linux only. Unfortunatelly, I have not a linux environment settled up at the moment.

This is exactly what I want. Thanks a lot.

I would like to exchange the opneing.bin in the final fantasy Image with a new opening.bin
However due to lzss compression the size is different and therefore the iso image must be rebuild.

Unfortunately the spanish command line tool, is always stopping the process.
I used
/patch/to/bin/image
/path/of/the/file/on/the/image/to/change and
/path/of/the/new/file
But I am always getting a error message, which I don't understand.
Can someone explain it in more details what to do?

Or can therefore someone build psximager, which is a) in english and b) offers the opportunities to extract, replace and build new images.

In the meanwhile you can try this http://www.romhacking.net/utilities/466/.

It allows you to change the LBA offset of the file you want to replace with another one. This way when replacing the file with cdmage, it will write the file to the new location.

You can also specify the new size of your file. You should find some free location in your iso file and change your file's LBA to that location.

That was working!
Thank you so much.

Exchange the files of a fan translated Final Fantasy 7 Version.
The translation is based on the international Version from Japan and so the opening was with the international logo.
I exchange the opening with the western opening (us version).
Now it's an absolutely perfect translation with the correct intro.
