Thanks for your help KingMike. I never realised that Lunar IPS had an option to make your own patches...  :P

Got the patch working on my Retron5 with a Japanese game, and I can even save to the cartridge itself and plug it into my SNES with the saves still there.

Will soon try it with my Super UFO Pro 8.

Played the hack a bit yesterday and I found a couple error's I thought I'd report:

-when you return the Earth Crystal to troia's Epopts there's a blank textbox

looking it up, this box should have Cid and Cecil reacting to Kain's voice, who notices they've returned the crystal.

-After the whole tower of zot section and the party is in Cecil's bedroom Kain needs to tell you something and after Cecil asks what.

Looks like Kain should be saying the last line in this box but his name isn't there, leading to Cecil having a small exchange with himself but there IS alot of text to shove in here so it's hard to fix without reading a bit clunky. My idea would be...
Quote
Kain: Cecil, I must tell you something.
Cecil: What about?
Kain: The Crystals.

Really enjoying your work, tho.

Thanks for reporting. Is it the current version? I'll take that suggestion for the one line to make it fit properly.

I am playing v1.96 and I also noticed the Kain response not having his name. So that is still there.

The blank text box at the epops wasn't there, though.

Am currently at the point where Edge joins the party, so might report back.

Edit: Found a typo.

After defeating Rubicante. He says "you" twice.

I'm not getting the blank textbox either, which is strange. Are you using the standard title screen or the Project II one? I will have those text errors corrected soon though. Let me know if you guys find anything else.

@Rodimus,

Keep in mind I had that exact same blank text box at that same location when I did my play months ago and you also couldn't reproduce it. Something is up.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't you use an incorrect ROM? Perhaps I need to make the patch for the Good SNES set for FFII instead of the old 1.1 (U).

Also I use Snes9x as my main emulator. So could it be something in ZSNES or BSNES?

Sometimes when using Geiger's SNES9X a text box will just come up empty when it's supposed to have text. I'm pretty sure it's a problem with the emulator. I don't know if the same thing happens with the non-debugging version, but... Was anyone using SNES9X when they got the empty box?

If memory serves you were initially under that impression for some reason but I don't believe an incorrect rom had anything to do with it. We never ended up figuring out what happened.

Also, yes I was using the most up to date vanilla version of SNES9X

Just as an experiment I'd suggest trying the same part of the game on a different emu.

I'll have to do some testing. The version of SNES9x that I am using is 1.55 and I know they are up to 1.60. So I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

Other than that, I did fix those two text errors and I can release an update soon.

I'm using the standard one, I'm just a sucker for the Japanese title screen.

Don't remember exactly where my rom's from but it was basically the first one that didn't freeze after the title screen (fade to black, then nothing) so I assumed it was good, there's a chance there was some funky stuff still.

My emulator is BSNES, wanted to use the hi-res mode7 from the newest build.

My boyfriend used Snes9x, albeit as a core in Retroarch (not sure if that makes a difference). He didn't see any empty boxes.
Helicoptering about till I find some ROM hacking treasure.

I have found two more typos in one chatbox.

I do "no" need...

And

"Cagnzazzo"

This is after the events of the Sealed Cave and challenging the Baron King to fight Odin.

Thanks for reporting. I corrected those now. If you find any more I will fix them right away. I'll release an update after your play through.

Convenient pair of typos - one missing letter followed by one extra letter. If only it was always that easy.

Sounds good. Making quick progress at the moment. Just finished the Giant of Babil and Bahamuts Cave. No typos there.

Am going for adamant armor so will revisit Kokkol soon too. No typos during the making of Excalibur at least.

Edit: I have found some small error. If you try to use an item where that isn't allowed, you get a glitched menu in the top right. Works with GysahlGrn for instance.

Are you sure that's not an in-game glitch, and not the fault of the rom-hack?

You may be right... I don't have to means to test it out on an unpatched ROM at the moment, though.
