It's a happyday. I hesitated before posting, but my eyes are closing from watching too much ASM.
The backlog bug is solved!!!
It stayed with us for over a year. I can't say it feels like parting with an old friend, more of a super duper relief!
Of course, it took me a year to accept to go for what Kingcom had suggested. Call that learning, will you? ;D

Anyway, have virtual beer, world of RHDN!

Oh boy, congratulations!

What was causing it in the end? How did you find it?

The screens look great, best of luck. I'm too neck deep in our stuff, but I wish your team the best.

The English text was encoded in SJIS (for ease of replacement) so it could span significantly more bytes than the expected max (in memory). I tried tweaking the code around, increasing stack size, increasing space between some copies, but the text gets copied many times until it reaches the tranformation into graphics.
So I just used freakin' ASCII for most of the text characters. And there we are!

Ah, had the exact same crash with battle quotes in GC. One less problem to worry about!

Hey!
There were no visible updates for some time, but we've been at this as much as ever before!
TheMajinZenki has been working on encyclopaedia entries, with the editors of course. And of course we found out there was quite some text in these - and some extra work to be on top of all of the trivia an SRW fan would expect to find there. I'll leave it at that: the game had already included some interesting ones, and Zenki went ahead and threw in a few of his own making!

Other than that, the original post is now up-to-date.
Signing off!

Happy Halloween!  ;D

It is with great pleasure that we hereby share with you a demo patch!
http://www.mediafire.com/download/p4kw0glubcdc79u/SRW_AP_2015-10-31_v033sh_DEMO.zip
This is a translation and fully playable version of the first 4 episodes, on all four routes (male/female x super/real).

While we're not claiming for it to be perfect, we're pretty happy with it. And you shouldn't see any Japanese whatsoever.
Enjoy!
Play!
... And of course, feed us back! We're doing this for that very purpose: know what you like, what you would want to see changed, etc. So look at graphics, story, text layout, pedia entries, weapon names... anything and everything that matters to you. And post here what you think.
We'd appreciate constructive feedback (i.e. "explained opinions"). it's the best way for us to take your view into account.

What is in this demo:
- Episodes 1-4, for all possible choices of characters/robots
- Translated story dialog for these episodes
- Translated battle cries for all involved pilots!
- Translated encyclopaedia entries for these "early bird" pilots and units
- Translated items, weapons, robot names, skills, spirits...
- Translated graphics
- A little something when you reach the end of the demo.  :cookie:

What is not in this demo:
- The possibility to play beyond episode 5 (included)

Known bugs at the time of patch release:
- Because of its special ending, the game crashes on real hardware
Spoiler:
at the end of the credits
. While we don't like this, it certainly will automatically disappear on the real game.  8)
- When you rename your character or robot, extra space is introduced at its end. This needs fixing. Please stick with the default names in the meantime.

Known limitations that will remain for the final release:
- When you rename your character / robot to a long name, some screens just cannot take it. Since the game uses a variable-width font, it is kind of a pain to limit it on purpose at the time of editing. So choice is yours: use a short-to-normal name and seamlessly play, or use a longer name you like but be tolerant to some text overflowing a bit from its natural location.
- Using Japanese saves is possible, but will result in the name of the main character / robot being incorrect and may make the game use the Japanese version of thegame save icon.
- Japanese game cheats [EDIT] mostly do not work. Try your luck!

We think none of this should mar your experience.
Have fun!

We'd like to give our THANKS to all that have been with us so far.
(And also to the army of translator who, will, no doubt, want to sign up after this!  :o )

Black, for the team

PS: It took us 20 months to get there, so... Don't expect any short-term next release. ;)
Have a beer while waiting!

This is GREAT!! Works on my PSP 3000

Question: Why was the patcher's extension .xdelta3 whereas the deltapatcher v2.0 accepts .xdelta? (I had to edit the extension by removing 3)

For those who are not familiar with Lamia's language quirks:
Spoiler:
IIRC at the start she has this disorder but disappears overtime; so don't mistake this for tyops

That's pretty cool, I'm testing it right now.

I've let the battle demos run for a while, and I've noticed that Benkei's battle dialogue doesn't show up.

I've just finished Lamia's real route and I didn't notice anything wrong with the dialogue. It seems to me that AP conveys the characters emotions better than J(it may just be that I'm more familiar with some of AP's series compared to J's). I can confirm that Benkei's battle quote during the battle demos is missing.

Glad you like it! ;)
Err, no specific reason. I've changed my scripts so that the next one be a .xdelta instead. Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks. A person reported it on /m/ too. I've fixed that, queued for the next patch delivery.

Thanks,  very much. I'm sure that goes straight to the team's hearts.

... And the patch was updated (in place - same URL) with the early feedbacks:
- Fixed typo "unite all Super Robots"
- Unmuted Benkei in battle demo carrousel
- Changed patch extension to .xdelta (from .xdelta3)

We also did alittle renaming, just because: ;D
- Rathgrith -> Rath Angriff
- Ashsaber -> Ash Savior

Someone elsewhere has probably caught this, but I'd feel bad if I didn't at least mention it: In Axel's Real path, there is just a small typo when Kaine goes to save Linda in Chapter 2, before the battle; "I'm here yo save you". Just a "y" where the "t" should be.

On an unrelated note, I'm just super excited and grateful for teams who translate these games. I waited ages for J, and I'm happy to wait for this one as well; Just the fact it is being done makes me happy.

Quick question, if you don't mind; how important is grammar feedback? I've spotted a couple of lines that roll off the tongue very awkwardly. Small issues at best, so I don't want to bother anyone with them unless its something you guys are looking for feedback on; or if you are waiting til a later time to do fine editing.

I'm all ears (or eyes, rather).
Don't forget Lamia has her own speech impediment, of course, which is made of (author-intentional) mistakes. (The style of the mistakes could be up for discussions if someone feels the need. We're not going back to Atlus's stuttering, though. ;D) But I guess you got all of that.

Update to the demo patch posted (probably the last one):
- Fixed "yo" typo
- Fixed batch inside patch still using old xdelta3 extension
- Edits, some more, and yet another few!

Same link as ever!
Enjoy!
