Please, Could anyone, Grimlock?, PM or spoiler post here the items necessary for 100%?
Do you finish with 255 missiles and 6 E-tanks? Are there more E tanks or missiles beyond that? Any extra super secret items beyond these:
Spoiler:
Screw, ice, wave, varia, high jump, bombs, Wall jump, spring ball+morph in air, access code capsule pill thing

I did any% 1st time, both bosses 2nd time, and want to go for 100% my 3rd time playing through.

I know there are 255 missile tanks because I got all but the last two. I managed to get two missing E-Tanks as well thanks to 1.20 fixing the bugs that didn't recognize them.

I can confirm 6 E-Tanks show up in my last save before final fight. Finished round1 with 94% completion. Found another (known?) permastuck but that's later.

It's the Easter Egg areas that make me wonder - found most of the "common" ones. Heard there's a special music one.

For the items required for 100%

Spoiler:
There are 255 missiles (31 missile items + 2 x 50 missile boss bonuses) and 7 E tank items (though only 6 appear in your health).  I'm not sure if the 7th E tank is needed for 100%.

I've edited the color map included with the patch to have the item locations on it, but would rather not release it without Grimlock's approval

Here is what factors into percentage:

Spoiler:
All e-tanks are required, even though you can not utilize the seventh.

  8  Upgrades
+ 7  E-tanks
+ 31 Missile expansions
+ 2  Bosses (included because they award missiles)
---------------
  48 Things

Here is my edit of the included color map that marks all locations of the E tanks and missile upgrades.  Note that this map doesnt necessarily tell you how to get to each one, but marks out exactly where they appear on the grid.  Obviously, do not open if you want to explore for the items yourself!

So, can anyone, Snarf, Grimlock, confirm which items there are duplicates for? I Found the wavebeam on my of early run throughs not too hard, but a rather odd place I thought. And of course bombs not hard to spot or get with wall climb. I gather there's an additional springball, and assume like the bombs and wavebeam it goes away once you collect the springball in the normal location.
So I've already scoured the game once while having springball. I'd rather not do it all over again while not having springball or other item. Could I get some big hints please for springball and any other duplicate items, thank you!

Also, are there any other easter eggs and intended "shortcuts"/paths (not directly obvious)  besides these:
Spoiler:
Crossword puzzle, room of eternal darkness, pointless room, grimpicker, grimpuncher, pyronaught, shyguy's test chamber, mario level big question mark room

Pirate Ship: wall climb exploit to early screwattack
Pirate Ship: wall climb exploit to early boneyard and icebeam
Pirate Ship: wall climb exploit to alternate bombs/missiles pack before bombs
Pirate Ship: wall climb exploit to alternate wavebeam
Desolate Water: shortcut to normal bombs requiring bombs or springball (or ridiculous freezing of multiviola from underneath)
Desolate Water: shortcut to wall jump from underneath
Desolate Water: slope ejection from lowest underwater missiles to second to lowest underwater missiles
Desolate Water: alternate path leaving to right of walljump
Boneyard: shortcut on far right using bombs to eventually spit you out the upper left wall up near the end
Boneyard: obvious "backdoor" type shortcut just right of start
Boneyard: bridge skip with wall climb exploit
Federation Ship: wall climb exploit to upper left missiles
Federation Ship: 2 breakaway blocks on right wall, shortcut to miniboss path
Federation Ship: heal station before miniboss
HIVE: shortcut from right high ceiling room to right pit
HIVE: shortcut from left high ceiling room
HIVE: weird path up FAR left, maybe more of a wrong way long cut when coming backwards from the top
HIVE: heal station path below the far left mini "pit"
HIVE: tunnel with Metroid art to oneway into other secret heal room
HIVE: secret heal room mentioned above, below the zebetites
backdoor for both minibosses

Devs, once again, I have to say Thank You for excellent work! Just a ton of fun to play. Easily better than the original, IMHO.

Edit; That wasn't meant to sound all butt-kissing-like. Just genuine admiration and gratitude.

The only item there should be "duplicates" of, as far as I am aware, are the extra energy tanks. In terms of percentage, missiles and energy tanks are calculated based on how many you've picked up. Other upgrades are simply based on whether you have them, given that in theory there is only one place that you can obtain them and all instances of them would disappear once you have them anyways.

I thought somebody put together a complete map including all pickups.

As far as easter-eggs, God, there are too many for me to keep track of. Grimlock would probably be able to help there.

Yes, that seems to be the case, that's how it works the for the bombs and wave beam upgrades. However, in Vanilla Metroid, the two icebeams stayed around independent of each other. I gather there's at least still an extra spring ball based of this "achievement" from that gamedragon linked earlier.
"Second Moon (8) (33)
Obtain the Spring Ball without entering the Bone Yard."

Which I probably essentially found already, but because I had the boneyard springball would have no clue where it was.

Has anyone tried this on whatever emulators are available on PSP? I'm traveling tomorrow and I've just now decided that this is the one game I think I'm going to stick on a portable to bring with me, but my 3DS and Vita aren't modded.

Works fine on my PSP. I believe the one I use is NesterJ.
Also works good on the Android Cell Phone too.

Hey, I also posted this on Metroid Construction Forums, but I thought people on RHDN would appreciate it too. I noticed that Dawn doesn't have any official full body art, so I commissioned a friend to draw one based off of Dawn's sprites. I hope that it's true to the original design!

SpiderWaffle asked me to respond to his spring ball predicament via PM:

There is indeed multiple item pick-ups for certain items.  These were added to increase replay-ability for those who enjoyed the game enough to want to continue playing it, or revisit it at a later time with the interest of playing it from a different angle.  The multiple shortcuts and alternate routes were added with the same purpose.  Wall clipping and door exploits should be considered cheating BUT I did think about that play style and accommodated it in a few locations.

I would recommend beating the game at least once before attempting to use "cheaty" exploits in order to fully experience it as it was intended.

Regarding multiple pickups:
Spoiler:

Bombs x 2 - (Requires cheatyness)
Wave Beam x 2 - (Normal game play to acquire or cheatyness for early)
Spring Ball X 2 - (Normal game play to acquire)  This really shouldn't be an achievement since it's in an almost random location

I'm not going to say exactly where these items are but I will give the general area for those interested:

Spoiler:

Bombs - Pirate Ship
Wave Beam - Pirate Ship
Spring Ball - Planet Surface (upper half of area, requires bombs to reveal)

Shortcut stuff:

Spoiler:

The shortcut to the bombs (normal non-cheaty way) requires you to roll off of a platform and bounce off of a lower platform to a hole on the right side of the chasm.  The location is short distance below the right pirate ship elevator on the planet surface.  Springball and/or bombs are not required, you can get the bombs as a first item pick-up.  You have to time the bounce right so you don't hit the re-spawning enemy that comes out of the snake like rock formation.

The wave beam early access requires the same technique to acquire. (some cheatyness required)

The alternate path from the wall jump can be used in reverse to acquire the wall jump as a first item pick up. (no cheatyness required)

There's a lot of shortcuts/alt routes added so I'll have to put some more thought into what's there vs what you listed.

I had never known about some of the metroid cheatyness and

Spoiler:
just used it to find the second bomb, spring ball, and wave beam locations and the room of eternal darkness.

This game just keeps getting deeper, its nuts.

Regarding the second bomb location(I forgot to mention):

Spoiler:
Since you start with wave beam on the second play through you can acquire the early bomb pick up by shooting the breakable block in the sick bay, this is by design.  No cheatyness required.  This was the original intent for this item location.
