Once you start playing, you may find it hard to believe that this is a hack of the original Legend of Zelda. New items, new sword mechanics, new graphics, new music (different sound engine, even!) and a world twice as large as the original... there is little left that hasn't been extensively modified. This hack will keep on wowing you right up to the very end.

Make sure you're using an up-to-date emulator, as this hack makes extensive use of MMC5 features to push the game's capabilities to the limits. Tested with current versions FCUEX, Nestopia, Nintendulator, and others (see http://acmlm.kafuka.org/board/thread.php?id=7308 for the full list and more info.)

I wanted to test this on the Retron5 with the latest 2.0b3 firmware, but unfortunately I just found out that I only have the REV A / PRG1 cart to test with. Exhibits some of the same problems as occur in Nestopia when patched on a PRG1 rom but with the added bonus of being entirely unplayable once the game starts because Link won't stop jumping.

Really interested in seeing if the gold scroll portion of the intro works properly with the PRG0 cart, because this kind of thing is exactly why I was so excited for IPS support to be added in the first place

Ok, it looks like the Retron5 isn't fully compatible with the patch due to improper MMC5 implementation. That makes me sad.


Hopefully they address the bug in the next firmware update!

I noticed while playing this on Nestopia there was considerable lag whenever there was Link, two enemies, and a projectile on the same screen on the overworld. What's up with that?

Great hack so far,I'm at Level-2 so far and it kinda feels like Link's Awakening meets The original Legend of Zelda.The only problem I have so far is the fact that you have to hold the lantern button though entire dungeons,its a bit annoying.

Yeah, it's like the controversy with Doom 3, back when it was first released. Having to play around with a light source during combat is simply tedious.

Is there a way to make it work like the red lantern, except on a room-by-room basis?

Other than that, it looks like a nice mod, so far.

I'm playing 1.5 now and haven't run into any game-breaking glitches. I browsed the http://acmlm.kafuka.org/ thread and it looks like most of the changes are minor tweaks and fixing obscure bugs that normal gameplay would be hard to trigger.

I played around with 1.2 to get a feel for the hack.  It's very impressive.  I decided to hold out progressing any further than the first dungeon until Infidelity gets to a final release.  Last I checked he was still working out some minor issues.
