Changing Mario's Jump Height and Other Values in SM64

I was wondering if it would be possible to change certain values, like how high or fast Mario jumps. I know Skelux did something like this in SMSR by speeding up how fast King Bob-Omb and Bowser move. I wonder if it would be possible to change how mario moves, maybe by using a Hex-Editor?

Of course it is possible. It is just a matter of figuring out how the relevant parts of the physics works and editing the code.

Of course it can be done. But you need to know some basics first. A general understanding of how such things as jump height are stored in a video game.

Have a look at this video: http://www.twitch.tv/internetexplorer6/c/1814114 (Seems like there are videos for everything. I'm more for the written word). You will get an understanding of how you can alter different things in a game by changing memory values and eventually by changing the games code. But I would recommend to read up on the whole hacking/coding/computer thing (see Documents section or a library) if you are a beginner.

Just start of with searching cheatcodes and understanding the format and values etc. I would recommend to browse this http://gamehacking.org/library

PS. Yes the video i posted is not for N64 hacking but it gives you a understanding about the whole process of writing/altering code/s.
