Dash Rascal fails a md5sum.

Before patching: 015349134f135196d2c2522a1f559055  Dash Yarou (Japan).nes

After patching: 8c7934df1f8e341dd27690615e149e4d  Dash Yarou (Japan).nes

md5sum of ROM from author's home page: 8c7934df1f8e341dd27690615e149e4d  Dash Rascal.nes

md5sum listed on http://www.romhacking.net/translations/2214/ :   65be651598a6693e05e63780e53363a8

Removing the 16 byte ines header didn't help either.  Furthermore, the file size listed here is 54.84 KB which the ROM certainly is not (unless you look at the zipped size).

This may be related to the md5 problems I've had with Dragon Knife, which comes from the same person.

You're more than welcome to submit corrections (see the 'Edit Section' button on the relevant pages), but thank you for bringing this pattern to our attention.

The point of having a checksum is to make sure that the ROM is correct.  If the checksum doesn't match the ROM, I have no idea whether to fix the ROM or the checksum.  It is my *guess* that the checksum is wrong in this case, but it wouldn't make sense for me to edit the page based on my guess of which one is the wrong one.

Wouldn't it clearly be the clean ROM hash that is wrong? Your patched ROM hash matches the hash of the ROM obtained from the author's page, right? You can't have used a wrong ROM and come out with a matched patched hash. Therefore, the ROM you used to patch is the correct ROM and your before patch is correct.
