That way, the whole Super Famicom library would be converted to English through the use of a program.
Uh, no... a readable, let alone correct, translation needs context, something machine translation cannot do. It needs human interaction in the translation.
Have you tried putting a translation (especially kana-only scripts like some SFC and most FC games use) into Google. The result is TOTAL NONSENSE! (I know, I've had one person offer to "translate" a script before by running it through Google, and then tell me it was correct. :P)

Well, Google has improved in that it can almost generate a coherent sentence, but it still is far from something a human would write.

I guess that if I wanted to speed up the process, myself, I would start up my own translation web site, hire a bunch of guys to do the dirty translation work, or help with groups in progress. Do you have any positions open for publicity for your ROM translations  :angel:?

Nice to hear. I know it's usual for you to go years without comment on some projects :) , but I thought this was one game officially on the "dropped" list (like Metal Max Famicom or Dracula II).

Didn't say it was me working on it, just that I was aware that it was being worked on ;)

You can speed up translation that way but you will need to put in more work in editing and organising the process. Parts of the game that are related by terminology and context might end up worked on by different translators, using different styles and solutions. To make it coherent and consistent, one editor will have to make sense of it all in the end. And all translators involved should have played and beat the game to put the disordered text parts into context. The in-game staging of the story also provides information not present in the text, so this is really a prerequisite.

I think it's preferable to have one translator, unless the game has exceptional amounts of text, or can be logically split up into parts that don't heavily relate to each other. Neither of which is usually the case for SNES games.

Really looking forward to this, and I really like the soundtrack. You've been working on this so long, so those menu's must be a serious pain.

Also, those two screens almost look like two different games, one's so softly shaded and the other looks...well, not.

Those screenshots look shaded differently because they game has full day to night cycles altering the coloring accordingly throughout the day! You can explore towns at night and during the day and things will be different. It's pretty neat. :)

Yeah, the menus are ultra tedious. HDMA vertical squishing for half tile spaces between lines and HDMA horizontal scrolling across two to three backgrounds for all the menu sizing and movement. Tons of HDMA tables to adjust even for the smallest change. While menus scroll off screen, they are actually all still in VRAM across the larger background layers, thus we need to be able to keep menus in VRAM that are not currently visible on screen. Couple all that with the normal run-of-the mill issues such as limited screen space on some screens and a plethora of things that need expanding and you have a serious nightmare on your hands!
