Hi.  I'm Mike.  I can't believe I finally found a board that has a post that isn't from 2010.  So people are still actually emulating games!  That's great to hear.  I'm not even sure where to begin.

I've been playing since I got my first Atari 2600 when it actually came out.  I've been hooked ever since all the way to my current PS4.  My how games have changed.

Hi! As you may have deduced from my username, I am a fan of classic video games, video game styles, and video game consoles. About a week ago or so, my curiosity about wanting to edit/alter ROMs reached its peak, so I started looking into it, and so I stumbled upon this site.

I would like to use this site for help with stuff like editing/expanding sprites, text, levels, and music in ROMs.

Well, that's about it for this introduction. I'm looking forward in getting down to business with ROM hacking.

Hey I'm SleepyFist, and I  know almost nothing about actual manual romhacking at this point aside from the basics of binary and hexadecimal but I have picked up several documents so far and I'm starting to learn.

I have attempted a few entirely tool assisted hacks of earthbound several years ago though, and they did not turn out well at all.

An avid gamer am I,  forever in pursuit of fun,  I really enjoy uncomplicated games that have good gameplay unmarred by bad voicieacting and over complicated control schemes and menus.

Favorite games: Rolans Curse I I, Sonic 3, and Mischief Makers

Most despised : Unlimited SaGa,  Deadly Arts, and Skeleton Warriors.

Hello, I'm DixieKongJD, I've also used several other names in the past.
I'm an active user at Board 2 and after a while of lurking around and looking at the documentation on this site, I decided to register here.

I've never made any ROM hacks yet, but I plan to make SMW, SMK and DKC hacks.
I think you can easily tell who my favourite video game character is, though. So that needs no introduction.

Hope I'll be around here (sometimes) and to enjoy my stay, hello to ROMhacking!  ;)

Hey Guys,

Name's Grant, I've done some game hacking and programming, mostly for the 2600, nothing major, however I'm looking to get started into game translations, specifically famicom games to english. I'm a huge RPG fan and there are several famicom RPGs that I would like to try my hands at converting.

If anyone can point me to some documents, tools, tutorials to get me started I would appreciate it! Also I'm going to be start working on some new homebrew games for NES as well.

Thanks!
Grant

Hey Y`all. I'm The Hillbilly Gamer from the southern part of Norway.
I'm a game a game collector and what brought me to this site was the translations. The retron 5 made my collection grow a lot, adding a ton of Japanese  exclusives to the family. I should have registered a long time ago but better late then never.

I  want to thank all the people that give of them selves to translate all the games that never had a official translation. Thanks to you i have enjoyed games like Bahamut Lagoon, Front Mission and Wonder Project J.

As a collector i have never been much in to emulating but iv always supported it. Collecting is a expensive hobby and everyone should be able to enjoy gaming no matter they're wallet size.

I'll stop ranting now but as a final thing, happy to have joined and I'll ask one question to many then to little on anything but i also have no problem being told to shut up he he

Hey all, how we doing?

I haven't been an active member of a community like this for a long time, but I've got the bug again and want to get back involved. I mostly hack SMB3 (I use that term loosely - edit using the variety of tools available is probably more accurate) and am midway through two different SMB3 projects. Anyway, I'll probably share some progress once I'm settled in.  ;)

Welcome to Romhacking.net! It's great and exciting to hear that you're working on multiple SMB3 projects! That's my personal favourite game. I'll be looking forward to seeing your progress. If you have any questions, hopefully I and other people will be able to help you out with what we can. Best of luck, and hope you enjoy your stay. :)

Ha, it's my fave game too! So much so, that I tend to edit levels in the style of the original game.

A few years ago I had a hack about 6 worlds complete, with months of work put into it, only to have my laptop stolen and lose all that work. That kinda killed off the fire I had for designing a SMB3 game, but I'm making good progress again now on something similar. My second project is a deviation from my normal style, exclusively featuring puzzle levels, and exploiting glitches and tricks in the SMB3 engine. I haven't really seen anything like that done for SMB3, so it's exciting making that one.

Anyway, thanks for the welcoming words. Big fan of your hacks btw!  ;)

Ummm... well... ok, here I go...

Hello, i'm Kevin and i'm not really good at breaking the ice... :-[

Anyway, I'm a romhack enthusiast and (almost) Medium level Programmer, i'm a fan of doing graphic and text modding (principally for the SNES). I'm looking for making some hacks but i'm still a newbie.

(Also I do not speak English very well, sorry for any typo or grammar mistake)

Hi. I'm Pemburu Vampir. I just got in here yesterday. I have little knowledge in ROM hacking. But I've made 2 hacks. The first one is Castlevania Harmony of Dissonance and the second one is Portrait of Ruin.
Right now I'm working on Hugh hack on Circle of the Moon.

Also, sorry for my bad English.  :P Thank you for letting me in. :)

Hi,

I am a console gamer since the days of the NES and since games from the 8/16 Bit era are still my favorite games I love coming here from time to time to check out for new translations, which allow me to play "new" games from that time.

As you might have noticed from my username I also love undubs of games, since so far I have seen few games with dubs that impressed me and like listening to original voice actors more anyway (also watch anime only in Japanese with subs). I come to this site regularly for more than a decade but now signed up because I want to try to undub a game myself since I didn't find a undub of it yet.

Hello! I've been coming to the site for years for game hacks, and within the past few for translations as well.

Hello everyone!  I'm Blake and I have been a fan of retrogaming for quite some time now.  I normally browse around this site and download mods to play, I never thought that I would really make an account here until it was required to download stuff .  (The hack I downloaded was mario chaos control) I guess I should add that because I played the game on real hardware and I wanted to play through the whole game, that saving should be implemented.  So, I created a patch if anyone is interested: https://www.dropbox.com/s/bdlge9v23goctn9/SMBCC_with_sram.ips?dl=1
apply the patch to smb3 and NOT chaos control.
(credits to Infidelity for making the save implementation into the original smb3 and Schwa for the hack itself) Thanks for reading!

Just got into the scene and looking at some snes gems that we sorely did not receive in the west.  Really wish I knew Japanese.
