(Request) Looking for Utilities by Markgrass
« on: October 12, 2011, 06:54:37 pm »
I'm not exactly sure which area would be right for this but I thought I post it here.

Markgrass developed I think a couple of years ago some very useful tools.

One of them was TMDTool.

Sadly his site has been down for quite a time.
And you can't get his tools anymore.

If anyone has TMDTool or any other PSX related hacking tools developed by Markgrass ( I think he wrote some very useful ones)
and could upload them I'd appreciate that.

Well, if i remember well the TMDtool, was just to modify the boot screen of the playstation.
If you want to work with the TMD (the 3D models of the psx) you need to convert them.
Something can be found http://consolecopyworld.com/psx/psx_utils.shtml and http://www.zophar.net/utilities/psxutil.html.
The specs to the TMD can be found http://wiki.xentax.com/index.php/Playstation_TMD.

If you really need the TMDtool, ask me again...I believe i have it somewhere on some old backups.

I've found the tool already. It's not only for the Boot Screen, it can handle lots of TMD specs.

But there is one problem.

I have on a PSX game a format called MMD. When I scan through them I get results of a TMD and the TMD gets ripped properly.

The UV data remains intact that's great too but the problem is that the model get's all scattered.

It's not rigged anymore but all objects of the model are in the middle and not alligned.

Can you think of a reason why is that? And how I could solve that? (Besides the obvious rigging everything together again :/

No, sorry.
I believe that the playstation 3D was never perfect to edit because there was no use for that.
And sadly I am not good on 3D drawing/programs either.

Maybe using one of those converters on those pages brings you more luck.

Ah well after all the playstation never really HAD a Z Axis so I can see what you mean.

I tried lots of these converters.  I will try a different approach and look into ingame data where the models are rigged, make a dump of the memory and look for the TMD Structure.
TMDTool can assemble Ascii TXT files with TMD Structure to TMD files. maybe I can try  that.

But thanks, I appreciate your help^^
