« on: September 24, 2011, 06:49:24 am »
We have a doutb about a Word in Final Fantasy Four Heroes.
The word is "Merkmal", we don't understand that it means or how translate it.

I saw the japanese version and says:

["Merukumaaru"] wo te ni haireta!

メルクマール【(ドイツ)Merkmal】
指標。目印。

It's the German word for a mark or a sign used to distinguish someone or something.

These are all possible English translations of Merkmal.

Token sounds good to me... But it depends on the context, really.

Okay, two things:

1. The word is spelled "doubt," and in English, we usually use the word "question" in this context. Just FYI.

2. "Emblem" might also be appropriate.

Perhaps xuliko should have made this clear, but he’s looking to translate into Spanish.

The word being untranslated German in the English version and transliterated German in the Japanese, the answer is “I wouldn’t translate it”.
we are in a horrible and deadly danger

On a side note, it's pronounced "... wo te ni ireta" in this context.

I support the opinion of BRPXQZME but anyway a precisation of the germany word:
by splitting the word into Merk and mal ("mal" being "times" like in once / twice /etc..) and "merken", you can have the translation "to remember"(make a mark on your memory), "to notice" (presense of somebody) or "to feel" .
