Standard (fantasy) RPG item names
« on: March 02, 2011, 09:49:00 pm »
What are good names for items that heal stunned allies? How about items that make enemies unable to use magic skills?

Generally trying to avoid silly ones.

Are you translating a game or making one?

SMT uses "Dis-[Ailment]", Pokémon uses "[Ailment] Heal"...you can make item names simple and descriptive, or as fanciful as you'd like.

Translating (http://www.romhacking.net/forum/index.php/topic,10637.0.html).

Following the original as far as possible, but some names are made up words that just don't translate literally.

Then we need made up words that don't translate literally. :3

For a fantasy setting, Latinate words might be appropriate (even if it's the Far East rather than medieval Europe).
