Utilities: Mario 64 Level Importer v13 Released!

This tool replaces any level of Super Mario 64 with a Wavefront .obj (3D model) and gives you control over many aspects of each imported level. Hacking Mario 64 has never been so easy!

Features:
  • Replace any of the original levels with Wavefront .obj files
  • Select Object Banks available in the level
  • Choose “weather” effects (lava, snow, etc)
  • Set global terrain type (slide, sand, snow)
  • Use custom background image
  • Set fog effects
  • Map textures to specific collision types
  • Set multiple Water/Toxic Haze/Mist boxes (still a big buggy)
  • Alpha support
  • Change hardcoded star positions
  • Change hardcoded trajectories
  • Change act selector settings
  • User-friendly interface
  • Numerous other tweaks

This has a lot of potential for some serious Mario 64 hacking. We've seen Mario 64 stages in Quake. Now we can see Quake stages in Mario 64 :D

Alright, this is pissing me off. The 1.3b  ROM extender refuses to work with a single ROM I've ever given it, even ones that people say supposedly work. If I get any pre-extended roms, then this level importer says it's an incorrect rom.

Of course, I'm not asking directly for a ROM here. What I want to know is, has anyone gotten a single rom to work at all on the extender? Because I've gotten every single one I can find from any site you'll likely find, not a single one works, and I pretty convinced that it's the programs fault by this point  :-\

Edit: Got a pre-extended rom that wasn't already hacked by someone. Still never found a 1.0 rom =p Ah well.

After messing around for three whole days, finally got something to import correctly. Too bad not many other Sonic levels are going to be this small  :laugh:

Use a Super Mario 64 (U) ! ROM, that should work.

The importer will work best with custom levels which adhere more strictly to the limitations of the N64: 32x32 textures (32x64 can be used too)
and very low-poly modelling.
