Not to mention the capsule monster system was totally fucked up, since the capsule monsters will request rare items (even Dragon Eggs!!) as feedings, whereas they will request shitty items in the Japanese version (that is, stuff you can easily buy in shops).

Not to mention the fact that they'll occasionally request something, but when you give it to them, they won't want it. They'll eat it, then 'yuck' it away on you, thus getting no points even for something requested.

Also, you can get your capsule monsters up to their second level fairly easily by starting the game (they'll ask for a Long Knife). Feeding them a Long Knife (worth double 'points' because it's what they were asking for). Saving the game. Turning it off. Turning it back on (they'll ask for a Long Knife, no matter what they were asking for before). Feeding them a Long Knife (worth double points). Et cetera. Handy bug.

Not to mention the scrambled graphics in the Submarine Shrine (yeah, that happens if you play the game with a real US (at least) cart, didn't happen when I beat the Japanese ROM).

Happens in the US ROM, as well. And the bottom level of the Legendary Dungeon.

There was also the Level 0 bug, which Nintendo Power used in a screenshot before revealing the glitch later. (go to the configuration menu, go to Sound Mode, move the cursor to the right option, then back to the left one. The item list should appear in the background. Push A to move the cursor down to it, then back out of the menu. Party member #4 should get their name corrupted, and have super-high stats.

I'm pretty sure they also have infinite HP when you do this. Either that, or the 'super-high stats' are high enough that the HP appear infinite. Considering that the stat names are screwed up as well, that's possible.

These are seriously _easy_ bugs to find, too. How in the hell this got Stateside without the testers noticing it... I just can't even fathom, honestly. This isn't one of those bugs that you have to work for days or weeks to find. For pete's sake: all you have to do is press 'R' or 'L' in the equipment menu to see one of them! And the sound test bug: just change the sound settings! And the dungeon: JUST WALK IN, for pete's sake!

Rant rave rant rave... I liked Lufia II, to be honest, except for these POS bugs.

I was unaware that Erinu was actually Erin, unless Estpolis Biography I used different kana for her name than Estpolis Biography II. [grinvader tells me it's a reference to the Erinyes, known to non-Greekmythlovers as the Furies.]

Also, the US version is missing code, hence all the bugs. The European versions either had the code reinserted or had the scripts inserted freshly onto a Japanese ROM, or something like that.

You're right. Will fix next update.

Perhaps "Erinne"?

I was just thinking of "Seijo Jannu", "St. Jeanne" (or "St. Joan" in the U.S. version) and the name "Kurisutiinu", or "Christine".

thanks, i'm looking forward to playing this.  I'm on a Mac though, but luckily I can just dl the Ninja util to my bro's PC and do the patching there.

I actually didn't mind Lufia II, as formulaic as I found it.  It's the GBA Lufia that had me wanting to gouge out my own eyes.

FYI, I use a Mac at work. All you need to download is the PHP installer. Drag it onto applications. Then load Darwin (the command line thing) and type "php ninja.php [patch file] [file to patch]" and you're all set.
