ROM Hacking Discussion / Re: List of Co-op / Multiplayer hacks
« on: December 16, 2018, 08:20:20 am »
not really a hack per-se but if my memory serves me, FF9 on ps1 has natively support for 2 players (decide controller for characters in combat.) i always thought it was pretty cool since it's not really the kind of game you'd think of playing with 2 people.
I don't know about FF9, but FF IV definitely does have that option (on PS1). And there are hacks to add this to FF III: and FF V:

Nice to see this get some attention. I really love these hacks as well and I will create some myself too. I'll make a personal projects topic once I've made some progress.

BTW: Secret of Evermore is in the NES section. ;)

Does dropbox even allow direct linking to images? All I ever see is images from places like imgur and photobucket.

Well, it's easy: you write on a piece of paper how many lives you've lost, and when you reach five, you turn off the game. :)
If that's the level of hacks you want to go for, you might as well not hack/patch your games and just imagine the changes while playing instead. :D

I suspect though that there's already a patch like that out there for SM All-Stars. But for some reason there are only a few hacks for it on this site, so you'll have to look elsewhere.

Current proposals for "Spell" spell's new name:
  • Reveal
  • Unveil
  • Enigma
  • Expose
Added a poll to the topic, so please vote!

For the name, we should take into consideration the official instruction manual description for the "Spell" spell:
"Magic to cast eerie spells.  Its effect is still not fully known.  It is also said that it'll make the enemy tremble in fear."
Taking the manual into consideration only Enigma fits the bill. The other names don't fit for its other use either.

News Submissions / Re: Translations: New Translations Added to the Database

Well, Home Alone for the NES does at least have the historical significance of being (I believe) Bethesda's first game. Certainly the first game of a popular developer counts for something.
If its as bad as HA it might be worth hacking just to remove any evidence of who the developer is from the ROM.

Hello, it's #, and I'm here to learn about NES hacking, gather the best tools and documentation, and keep track of any interesting projects by other members. With a little luck I'll be able to publish my first NES hack here in time for Christmas.

PS, it seems new member posts need to be approved by a moderator. This is fine, but it would be helpful if the site was more upfront about this by mentioning it in the forum rules when signing up, along with the details of when it will be lifted. I initially thought something had gone wrong when I made my first post.

Script Help and Language Discussion / Re: Rockman Mega World script

Transportation Items is obviously a better fit but what it literally means is movement items.
I'd go for mobility items if the items in question are only to be used for movement related tasks in the game.

I know there is on for Super Mario World.
Is it on this site? I didn't see it among the games' hacks (it might have a cryptic name).

I've been trying to find some of these multiplayer hacks, but they can be hard to find. There's one for the original NES Tetris called Tetris Zero. Not a title that clearly states its purpose.

EDIT: I found it:
