Cool program. I do wonder one thing.
Why add support for only a single level? That has very limited utility.
Why not focus on making all levels editable before adding support for another game?

Well, priorities. Let's pipedream about games that color would greatly enhance over what the SGB alone can do. Mole Mania works pretty well as a SGB title as it is and Of Myths & Monsters isn't an especially great game. Not suggesting that it wouldn't be great to see them, but I'd put other projects like Mario Land 2, Megaman V or any of the Kirby games ahead of those.

If I could choose any game to put into color it would be Trip World or Roland's Curse 2.
Also as far as easy game to colorize: Boomer's Adventure in ASMIK World, Catrap/Pitman and Chalvo 55. All these games use a really simple and static tileset yet are still really fun AND are not in color on any platform.

Edit: I'd do the colorization if someone else would do the hacking and give me direction on what guidelines to use.

I'd also need help with the SGB border, ideally a drawing of the island in the same fashion as Link's Awakening. Worst case scenario I can use the one I made:



What! I asked about this in the general hacking forum and was told adding a SGB border is not possible.
I don't mean to hijack this thread but how is that possible?

According to the wiki...

$0578 to $---- = Change Mario form. Modes 1-7 can be changed at will (same as ED value+1). Flag-like values combine with ANY mode (so you can get e.g. small Mario in statue form).
   Modes:
     01=small
     02=big
     03=fire
     04=raccoon
     05=frog
     06=tanooki
     07=hammer
   Flags:
     10=Enable statue
     40=Enable swimming (causes splash on land)
     80=Enable Kuribos boot

So, storing 01 here, will send a flag to make Mario small. If he's already small = no effect.

What effect do you want to get from a mushroom?

wait.…so you could easily make a hack where the hammer bros suit can do the tanooki statue ability?

If yes, how would one go about doing this? I want to add a border to the Super Mario Land Colorized hack.

I have a copy of Dragon Quest I+II for Super Famicom that has the traslation, the fixed title screen patch, and the bugfix for the Prince in the Inn all applied. I remember the author of the Inn bugfix wanted to release it here but RHDN's site rules prevented him from doing so. I think he chose to only release it on byuu's board. After byuu updated his website and forum, that link disappeared, but I still have that copy on my PC.

What could be done with that?

I really like reading your designer diary.
Going the final fantasy 1 route and having icons is a great idea. Iconography is really big in table top design to make games language independent.

I'm still waiting for a game to be translated in to emoji

Sad to see the head animations and frowns removed from the zombies. Those really made them stand out.

agreed.
The bottom guy should have a frown and you should make his face look more zombie like.
he looks too much like a reject pokemon right now. make him intimidating.
