Programming / Re: Making a Gradius 1 NES Hack.

Ohh man!
Thanks so much for this link!
I never heard about it before!

I applied the patch to a USA ROM and it seems to be worked.
Are you sure it requires a JAPAN ROM?

Thanks thanks!

It came from a Japanese site which they used the Japan ROM, not sure if there are any real differences though between the both of them. I was hoping the author of this hack would take advantage of the updates this patch provided though :(

Regardless I am looking forward to this when its done! Gradius hacks are always good!

Those are some i teresting fonts.
I was about to do some changes to the 8x16 font the game uses for the tutorial, but had to put in on hiatus due to eye surgery yesterday, so it'll take some days for me to go back to take a try on the font to take the suggestions made by GHANMI into action and see how well it goes.
I'll also check those two fonts out to see how they end up in game.

Hope your eye gets better after that. Here is a picture showing the 7th saga font in use -

I saw you wanted to change the font in one of the earlier posts, this one isnt too bad here -

Here is another one -

If you do a hack, you should definitely use this as a base to start off with, so many awesome features were added with this. -

This patch is used on the Japan ROM.

Nice work!

ROM Hacking Discussion / Re: Hacks and Translations that can be finished...

What's up fellas?

It came to me when I checked out TheHappyFaceKing's thread, there's a lot of incomplete hacks floating around that can be finished and inspire people to finish them. It's kinda hard to get in contact with authors to see if you can finish their old hacks, especially from the late 90's and early 2000's as long as you give credit to the original authors. So to get the dice rolling I'll take it upon myself to finish Toma-Chan's Luigi Bros. This hack hasn't been touched since 1999 and it'll be cool to see it complete, since World 1 is done.

So what hacks that are not finished you'd like to see finished? Hopefully people will step up and get inspired to finish unfinished hacks. Especially with today's modern tools.

What about that long lost castlevania patch I found for you. That looked like a great one :)

THose import packages sometimes get stuck at an arrival destination. Give it a week or 2.

What ever happened with Romancing SaGa 3 in English?

There was a deal that came up on my Facebook saying 'Metroid' and got giddy with excitement as I thought it was a new Metroid game announcement.  When I clicked on it, tons of stuff came up about Rogue Dawn.  Pages upon pages of nothing but Rogue Dawn.  Tons of positive stuff though I saw a few 'Nentehndo'h blah blah blah in 3, 2..." stuff as well.

My guess is that people take the IPS, insert it into a ROM and upload it in full someplace that has stuff listed and from there spreads like wildfire from their download section.  Sadly its only just a matter of time in seeing someone  sell a cartridge of it either on ebay or elsewhere without consent...

Those lowlife cart sellers are already doing this...

Looks like the repro-cart scum are salivating over future sales on this.... Already see carts for sale..

This game doesn't seem to work on real hardware. Gets stuck on 'Waiting' on second disk.

Not sure why, only text was altered... Ran fine on the emulators. Also there wasn't a 2nd disk with this game... Do you mean Side B?

Congratulations on breaking 10,000 downloads!

Congratulations! Blew past the 3000 mark, currently at 3099 downloads!

WHOA! UP TO 7377 DOWNLOADS! NICE!

By the way, my very favourite part of this game was actually the room where
the ship's crew ask you to leave the E-tank behind. Even though it doesn't seem like it affects the ending or anything, it really made me think hard about whether I should take it or not. Eventually I decided to leave it for them.

I took it :)

Will there be a new version of Editroid released later on?

Already up to 1300 downloads! Well done!

Submitting an update should be easy now that the patch has a listing.

Ok all set! Time to submit a news alert! :D
