I'd go with Imgur, myself.

What if we're indifferent to the ZX Spectrum font because we live in a country where it was never sold?

A sprite of Mario giving the peace sign, I assume, like in Mario All-Stars.

I'd translate マント as "cloak" or "cape". Just because it's literally what it translates to doesn't mean you can just translate it as that word, else you'd end up with garbage like "Hey, my handheld's battery is running low, does your mansion have any concents I could use?" No one calls it a "mantle" in English.

He said damn, censor him!

I know it's a joke, but Capcom did literally exactly the same thing as you when the Mega Man X Collection came out, so...

You could try sacrificing the green color on the shoes to make the overalls magenta.

Valkyrie is "A belligerent maiden who holds a sacred power in her wicked heart."
Guillotiner/Guillotine Devil is "A demon who has caught tens of thousands [of people] in its guillotine."
Mothman I believe is "It arrives from somewhere when tempted by light."

A hack of either the Genesis or SNES versions of The Lion King that switches the music for the Elephant Graveyard and Be Prepared stages. It just seems weird to have a song not play on a stage named for it.

I'd argue that having Game Boy-sounding music in Battle Network fits the atmosphere of the games, since, you know, computers.

I feel like the mushroom on top of the mushroom house should be a little lower on the cap, and that the bottom-most part of it should be slightly rounder, because as it is it makes the house looks like a 2D cut-out. The same sort of issue is affecting the Hippo; try moving the left eye down one or two pixels, bring the muzzle to the right by a few, move the right nostril up a pixel or two, and round off the bottom. Also maybe give the Space Zone's star two eyes. Besides that, it's very nice.

Super Metroid makes heavy use of the SNES's Mode 7 capabilities for the scaling and rotation of certain graphics. It wouldn't just be a ton of work for something that would probably be C&D'ed anyway--it'd have to lose a lot of graphical effects too.

Alucard looks all right, but the other characters look like those vaguely anime-ish homunculi you would always doodle in the margins in 9th grade math class.

The same reason for most Japan-only games: because that's the market the parent company was focusing their efforts on. Judging from the look of the game, this was released in the 1990s when JRPGs of all stripes were much more niche than they are today, so a full localization likely wasn't seen as worth the expenses. Besides that, it took a really long time (late 2000s) for Falcom games to find a steady publisher over here.

ROM Hacking Discussion / Re: Super Mario kart hacks

How are they impossible? I've played most of them and they work fine. Perhaps state which ones are impossible?

"Impossible" as in "ridiculously hard", probably. Having played most of the Mario Karts, I can vouch for the 2D ones being much harder than the 3D ones. (Although no custom Super track has the 90-degree angles and bouncy mushroom spam of any given custom Wii track, so there's that.)

I believe the description for Needles translates to something like "A fully-grown sea urchin with a wicked appearance." I'm still learning, so take it with a grain of salt.

Ukobachi is easier: "An evil spirit with a red-hot body, it cooks using an iron pot."

Proto Man never has his mask on when fighting him in the vanilla Mega Man 3. My memory might be faulty, but I think that might be something Zynk added when working on Roll Chan 3. I'd have to play it again to check, though.

What they did change inexplicably, though, is the part in the ending where Proto Man shows up to save Mega Man. Instead of using the "shadow" sprites from the original game, they just use the normal Proto Man sprites with a blue palette, which looks weird. There are actually sprites for this in the game, they're just never loaded. Why? Who knows?

I don't think it's a pun. スカル is just how you write the English word "skull" in katakana. Its Japanese name means "Skull Knight Lord".

That is not the case with the song in question, it was a joke the moment I heard it. It's like celine dion+titanic meets a game that should have nothing to do with that.

Funny story--it's in the game because the composer lost a bet. Look it up. (That might also be why it's missing from later releases.)

Something about the color scheme of your tilesets reminds me of Batman: The Animated Series. I think it's the dark backgrounds.

"Republic's Capital" and "Capital of the Republic" both mean exactly the same thing. Maybe the emphasis is slightly different, but I don't think anyone's going to pitch a fit either way.

Personally, I think "Capital of the Republic, Dome" flows better than "Republic's Capital, Dome".
