Or, you know, thank the kind folk for using their free time to translate this game for free for everyone to enjoy, you know, just an idea.  A labor of love despite some ingrates...

I don't think that's too much to ask of anyone. I do think it's enough to ask of people not to shoehorn rants about American politics into the game. Last time I brought this up I got warned, though, so I'll refrain from elaborating.

All you have to do to get an acceptable amount of space out of Zelda 2's message boxes is redo the text drawing code so it doesn't skip the spaces where the dakuten would go in the Japanese version.

I can't speak for X4, but Mega Man 8 on the Saturn has more advanced visual effects, additional boss fights against Cut Man and Wood Man, and a different theme for Tengu Man's stage. Some of the music was rearranged a bit too, because they were using streamed audio instead of the PS1's built-in MIDI hardware. On the downside, the sound effects are a lot more compressed.

I don't know why Capcom has never rereleased the Saturn versions of those games. Even Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 has the PS1 version of 8, not the Saturn one. Maybe they lost the source code.

They do add depth, but the Game Boy Zelda games usually only use black outlines for solid objects. When you're on as tiny a screen as the Game Boy's (and remember that Link's Awakening was designed for the original black and white model first), visual clarity is extremely important.

Most of it looks very nice, but that carpet's a little messy-looking and I feel like the wooden floor could do without the black lines.

I think you mean the GBA translation, because the PS1 translation is more or less 1:1 with the SNES one, censorship and all. It's the only version of the game with 100% uncensored graphics, though; even the GBA port still has Siren's butt covered up and Chadarnook's woman form having more mist. (Don't ask me why the flasher in the pub is acceptable, but a little bare skin isn't.)

I wonder what the ring does.

Marin's dress is actually sky blue, not orange, but I understand how changing that would probably confuse the player more than it's worth.

I think I underestimated how much easier it is to be beat a level when you have perfect knowledge of each level's layout, like I do.

Of course you do, you designed it. If you want a more balanced difficulty curve next time, I'd recommend getting some play testers for some non-biased feedback.

In other words, edgelord teenage translators coming across a line that has several translations and they choose the more controversial one. Unless this is just making shit up, which is worse.

I feel like this hack would be better served if it just added the secret battle. Everything else you're adding to this hack is just... well, it feels like a bad fan fiction, to put it honestly. It's not part of the legend and it serves no purpose except pandering to a very unlikely ship.

The background doesn't disappear now with sluffy's patch in Touch Fuzzy Get Dizzy. No mosaic, but I guess that's the test here.

It looks like the bug where the gradient behind the background is visible at the top of the screen is still there. Is anyone working on fixing that?

Magus isn't his name, it's a title (a translation/localization of "maou" which translates to "demon-king" and is a generic evil-overlord-type title in Japanese media). "The Magus" is correct.

Something like "It says in the rulebook, 'And so, due to the powers of the magical rocks known as Stones... Your own individual Master Cards will enter the battle opposite each other!'"

You'll have to extract the ROM from that zip file first. Windows has built-in support for extracting zips, but if you want to use a separate program, I'd recommend 7-Zip.
