wow, so I got the start menu done,save/load screen and some of the unit menus. The problem is that the unit menus are all done with graphics lol. So I have to create graphics for each menu option. So, this might take longer than expected.

Haha, thanks. It's got a hell of a lot of dialogue.

I just finished the intro. I'll upload it when I can. I took a break from Biomotor 2 as my mind was speaking in hexadecimals.

I have found the table for this game as well and will be working on it when I'm done with biomotor unitron 2.

You will see the pictures below are in game screens were the items menu has been translated. I'm translated a lot of the menus, but I'm trying to work on my jap translations as what I came up with doesn't make sense "scoop"?

I have found the table for this game as well. I will look into it once I finish biomotor unitron 2. You will see below I translated the first sentence of the game.

Main Menu

Japanese first sentence

The initial introduction screen up until the name entry screen has been translated.

I am looking into doing a translation for this title as well. However, I think it uses compressed graphics. I made two topics, as I don't plan on having anymore time to do other NGPC titles, so I don't need a "project thread". Just wanted to mention that so you know i read the rules.

The graphics for the text are causing me grief, outside of the main menu. I can't seem to change or modify them, so this was just me translating and messing around for now.

Can anyone explain the action/capture/shooting part of this game, I don't quite know what do to just yet.

This is my first hack/translation. So I just started reading into VWF etc.

I did the above during an hour everyday for the past day or so.

I'm looking for support:

I'm trying to find someone or some people who could assist me in a few things:

1: The Title Screen, I'm looking to modify it to correctly read Biomotor Unitron 2

2: I'm trying to find a way to only show the American Alphabet. *FOUND IT 12-10-13

3: The in-fighting actions. I'm trying to figure out how to rework it, as japanese actions are far different than how we handle them in RPG's (due to how the Japanese language is)

I tested the game on real hardware and it crashed, so I had to go back a few version to see what I messed up, luckily everything is working now. I'm happy I tested it.

Any help would be beyond helpful.

History: The game has been around for awhile, except it never got a US release due to the closure of SNK. I've seen numerous posts about people wanting an english translation patch, so I finally did it myself. I'm new to everything, so I'm currently doing it all by hand.

Update #3- April - 13 - 2015

I've been working on this game for awhile off and on. I just don't have a lot of time, but I finally was able to rearrange the fighting engine for the game, so fight scenes make sense. Enjoy. I uploaded the most recent to the translation page, it should be uploaded soon.

Update #2- Feb - 10 - 2013

I'm currently working on the HELP menu and LINK instructions. I've found I continue to jump around instead of focusing in one area at a time.
The in-game help menu is 17 pages, so it's going to take some time. The Link was actually translated from communication in japanese, however that didn't fit in the four block i had. Link is where you can trade and fight other players via the link cable. The biggest problem is that whatever partner you choose speaks during this time and the dialogue changes, so it's a pain lol.

Newcomer's Board / Re: Neo Geo Pocket Translations - Questions

Thanks KM for responding. I spoke to Flavor (the guy who supported the translation Capcom Fighters 2 for the NGPC). He said he used EmEditor and a JIS table. I'm assuming the games are the same. None of them are encrypted from what I can tell.

I can push a JIS table (they are built into EmEditor) and I receive character replacements, but I'm still unable to identify any known words (yes, save, etc.) which I know are there.

I've tried windhex before, little different. I'm trying still. any ideas don't hesitate to respond.

Newcomer's Board / Neo Geo Pocket Translations - Questions
« on: February 03, 2013, 02:42:35 am »
Hey all, I've been trying to modify a few japanese roms after I started (successfully) editing text and sprites of English games. However, like most people, I guess I'm not comprehending what I'm reading or I'm just dumb, I'd prefer the first more than the later.

I know a lot of basic game words from playing games, and my goal was to do Biomotor 2 and once I get a handle on things have my friend help me out with the translations. Below is me identifying some key menus/options within the game so far myself. My issue is that I'm using an editor called EmEditor and reloading a JIS table, but I'm not getting anything to display correctly. I should be able to find "yes" in the hex editor easily, as it's used multiple times (or item, or arm, etc.). I've also tried Translhexion and others as well without much of a display. Any ideas would be helpful.

I've also been trying to use NeoPop debugger to find the addresses, but nothing i do seems to make it work well...

A little about me (I like the electronic part of games, developing PCB's, etc. not so much the programming. I do reproductions on virtual boy, neo geo, SNES, NES and SMS).

MAIN MENU =  メイン メニュー

1 ___ Game = ___ ゲーム

2 ___ Game = ___ ゲーム

4 Game options = ゲームオプション

b- ARM = アーム
c- PACK/? = パック/?

is this correct? = これは正しいですか

yes = はい

In Game Fighting
3- ITEM / アイテム
4- CHARGE / チャージ
