Gaming Discussion / Re: Looking for GBA recommendations
« on: January 10, 2013, 12:32:35 pm »
- Lastly I recommend kingdom hearts: chain of memories. Not a general recommendation, because the fighting system is slow and does not revolve around crowd control like the other games (only one person can attack or use magic at any given time), but it can be enjoyable if you like the battle system. The system revolves about playing cards in order to use attacks or magic. They can be blocked with higher numbers, which can lead to frustrations if your stronger attacks are low numbered. Other general gripes are about world navigation, which can be slow due to using separate cards to progress and overall weak story.

Ever since I played the PS2 remake of this game, I've been thoroughly convinced that it has not only the best fighting system in KoH universe, but possibly the best fighting system of any RPG, ever.

Yea, so progress on this is I quit the SNES version simply because the walking speed was literally killing me. And I tested out the ps2 version. Even with a single core, I can get 60 fps on the game, except on really large areas such as the world map, which brings me down to 45 fps, but at least the music doesn't lag. The story has progressed 10 years, and I've been playing at the casino for the past few hours, but clearly this is my favorite of all the versions (I played close to this far in the DS version). The only way you could be disappointed with these graphics is if you were actually comparing them to DQ 8 for some reason or another.

@ someone who knows - what are the differences between Papas dying scene in each version?

I played through DQ6 SNES, and DQ6 DS, and much preferred the SNES version for the look/translation, even if it's an incomplete translation. I'm really not into those accents they add to the DS iterations. Also, I suspicion that the people who liked the game and the project enough to do it for free probably put a little more heart into it than the officials.

I've decided on the DeJap release after playing both last night for an hour- I think it's an easier read.

After watching that, the ps2 one is sorta catching my interest. That soundtrack sounds great compared to the other versions. For curiosity sake, would my computer meet the minimum requirements to run it with lowest settings on ps2 emu?

Play the DS version you crazy guy!

If for nothing else the DS version lets you have four party members instead of three.

Not sure you understand how much I love me some sprites and snes midis :)

I've really been wanting to go back and finally put DQ5 to rest. The question is, which version should I play? I'm not interested in the ps2/DS iterations as I'm a stickler for playing the original game over the remake.

2 translations, each with varying praises. Anyone has played both that could give an opinion? I realize Byuu's is more literal, but does that mean the writing doesn't 'flow' as well?

Awesome, love seeing a patch made for the people! I somehow scraped through beating parallel worlds with a friend, so I'll get to playing and judging the new difficulty ^^

1:33 of your youtube video stands out to me.

Nothing else right off the top of my head that I can think of though.

I hate the encounter rate in this game though. It's too easy when you're forced to be overlevel'ed.  Do you know if I can gameshark a moooglecharm into your hack?

Well, chalk up another one cuz I just downloaded it. I made it right past the moogle fight, and so far I like it. A few grammar errors but nothing big.  I can tell a lot of love went into this rewriting.

So far, only thing I have to say is good job, and I prefer the original Kefka more. I'll probably be finishing this up over the course of a couple weeks so I'll let you know of any updates.

Based on screenshots, I think this looks awesome. Are towns recolored not to be 1 color anymore?

Guess I'll just have to keep downloading 50 different versions hoping to find one already done.

ROM Hacking Discussion / Y's 4 for PC Engine
« on: December 25, 2011, 03:40:20 am »
Been trying to get this game to work, but every file I download is different than the last.

Finally found one on fantasyanime that is pre-patched, but like the others I've found, all the mp3 files are set aside from the .cue and .bin

With the other PC Engine ISOs I have, there's only 2 files, .bin and .cue

What do I do with the music, and why can't I get Ys 4 to mount? What am I doing wrong?

I already found this game challenging. I just want a mod where you get more JP and XP so i don't sit around and throw rocks every turn.

Xanadu Next is a 2005 role-playing video game developed by Nihon Falcom and published by Nokia for the Nokia N-Gage.

First thing that came up when I googled Xanadu Next.
