I haven't played this game yet so forgive me if I'm wrong, but unless "Imperial" is a proper noun in the game, the "i" should be lower case.

Congratulations on finishing this translation Nightcrawler. I've been following the scene since 1999 and I know this has been a long time in the making.

I know this might be a silly question, but I was wondering why the titlescreen hack didn't read as "The Glory of Heracles" in the title like all other translations for the other games in the series. Was it perhaps an artistic choice?

Does anyone know why Lu Ye Xian Zong has an alternate title of "God Gives Directions"?

Hey mrrichard999, I was thinking that maybe the game's title screen could be modified. I know this is how it was originally designed by the developer, but the line that displays "DEMON'S HEART" looks more like "DEMON'SHEART". I think adding more space between the two words would look a lot better.

Since I posted my reply ^ I've created said IPS file. It is for an unheadered J2e 3.21 rom.

So that's how fast I snapped to attention, just saying. I'll wait until some official word comes down before submitting it, though, if you don't mind too much.

Its all cool; no hate here.

I did submit credits to the site that reflect the work done prior to this patch's creation.

If it's that big an issue I can rig up a patch that goes over the J2e version for everyone...let it not be said I am not in favor of good community ethics.

I also feel that it's interesting to note that I did not remove J2e's credits from the end credits scroll. They plug a website there as well, if I recall correctly.

My last comment was a general comment in regards to the loophole in the RHDN system that allowed for what I thought to be a potentially unethical issue; I'm not lying any blame on you specifically. I did notice you submitted all the appropriate credits and that you mentioned you had Joelsmith380's permission for his work.

As for J2e's credits, I think you practiced good ethics in keeping them, as the patch is based upon their work.

This patch is listed as an "Addendum" on its RHDN project page, however, RHDN policy dictates:

"Addendum: This is for cases where new person/s improve or fix old patches released from other people while promoting good community ethics. Archives should contain a patch that patches an originally patched work."

As the patch needs to be applied to a clean copy of the Japanese FFIV ROM and not J2e's original work, it does not fit the criteria.

That being said, joelsmith380's "FF4 - Cosmetic Changes" addendum patch also does not fit this criteria either.

I personally think it would make the most sense for RHDN to only host addendum patches in the form outlined above. Otherwise, addendum patches are at times to be submitted and accepted containing work not solely of he author/s, which doesn't promote good community ethics.

Why does the project page list "Hero of the Sun: Fire Bird" as an Alternate Title? Unless the game ever been released under this name, I'm not sure RHDN Policy allows for it.

The game crashes at the first Warp Star.

Have you tried another emulator?

That translation is in regards to the NES demake & it's an old obsolete version of it.

If you are going to play FF VII for the NES, I would play this version as its been greatly improved and reworked to correct the many bugs in it.  --->

After reading this, I really felt the need to clear something up:

This translation is by no means "obsolete"; Anyone wanting to play this Final Fantasy VII demake in English can do so with the patch. The game is not exactly like the original FFVII, so for those that would like the experience to more closely match the original, the patch you mentioned (the "Advent Children" hack patch) can be used to make it as such. I'm sure the creators of the demake, the English translation patch and the "Advent Children" hack patch each had their own vision for what they wanted the demake's experience to be. By saying the English translation patch is obsolete as well as insinuating that the "Advent Children" hack patch is the only way to go is a great disservice to the people who made the demake as well as the person/people who put time and effort into creating an English translation patch for it. Like you said, the hack patch greatly reworks the game, so it really is a completely different experience than what it was originally envisioned to be. The screenshots of the game with each patch below illustrate how greatly it was reworked in the "Advent Children" patch.

English translation patch:                                                      "Advent Children" hack patch:

I realize you most likely didn't intend to stir up controversy or anything; I just wanted to say my piece. Personally, I think both patches deserve a try.

Shouldn't this be categorized under Translation Addendums and not ROM Hacks?

There's no dd2_expand.txt file in the .zip or .7z files that I can find.  Anyone else having this problem?

The .zip file with the patch is invalid, please replace it. :'(

It is no good for me either.  None of the files in the .zip file are accessible.  I was only able to get the patch by downloading it from the post above.

puzzledude, you might want to think about replacing it with a fresh one.
